Something is wrong when a 20 year old has to check into AA. SHe cant even drink legally yet! Skanks like lindsay lohan are part of the problem with america today imo.

After weeks of speculations, the 20-year-old actress’ mother, Dina Lohan confirmed the rumors despite AA’s privacy policy.

“It’s true,” Dina told Ryan Seacrest’s morning show on KIIS FM radio in Los Angeles. “A lot of people she hangs out with go and it’s a positive thing.”

While with her 12-year-old daughter Ali who was promoting her Christmas album, she answered several questions regarding her older child. When asked if she is still giving advice to Lindsay, she said her daughter is actually doing fine and doesn’t need her advice anymore.

“As a parent you tell them what you can tell them, but she’s 20 and I’m not gonna say stay home and don’t go out,” she told the KIIS host. “That’s a ridiculous thing to do. When you’re 20 you have to learn a lot on your own so I’m there for support and I’ll obviously give her my opinion, but she’s fine. She’s OK.”

Leslie Sloane, Lohan’s publicist strengthen Dina Lohan’s statement saying "Yes, she's been attending some meetings, and it's going to be a slow process. This is a positive. Let's hope that the press doesn't turn it into a negative."

Speaking on Lohan’s behalf, she asked the media to stay out of it and quit following Lindsay to and from gatherings. She was spotted going into an AA meeting in Los Angeles at 7.30am on Wednesday, November 29.

"Maybe if (the press) backs off on her she'll be in a good space," she added. "Let's see if we don't have to hear about it every day, and they're following her and trying to find her. Because that will just really not be good."

A close friend of Lohan’s said she has been attending the meeting for a while and kept silent about it hoping to cure herself.

"She has attended several meetings and has hopefully decided to turn her life around - this time for good. She is out of control," her friend told the New York Post newspaper.

According to her friend, Lohan avoided spending her Thanksgiving Day with her family fearing “someone would force an intervention on her."

With a bit of luck, the young starlet is getting all the help she needs. Her family is apparently anxious that "she will really get serious about getting sober. And drop out of the limelight for a while.

i was 23. i know several who were 18, 19 years old and i probably should have by then. you're never too young to have that shit take over your life. my big question is what the hell do you care if she's trying to kick her drug habit?

and you are aware mike mcready is a member as well? have you listened to inside job?
  • such a relief that the young diva might be getting some help. i pray for her every night.

i can't believe anyone wasted the time to write about this like its of such importance, like the other thread about the one "journalist" calling the incoming congressman unamerican for wanting to swear in on the koran. must be a slow news day.

Mike Mcready is an adult. Shes 20 years old. Huge difference. The sad thing is young girls look up to Lindsay Lohan; that bothers me. Hell if Lindsay drank absinthe and drove into a ditch i wouldnt care. But stupid teens follow these people and their actions...take kurt cobain for instance.

so wouldnt her getting help for her problems be a good thing? showing those young girls that her poor behavior is not as glamorous as it looks and trying to change to be a more positive role model? god knows i wish kurt had given it a shot, we might still have him with us.

also, isnt 20 legally considered an adult? at what age is AA acceptable? was i allowed to go at 23 or should i have waited until i killed somebody first?

    Kurt was overrated imo.

Lindsays parents should have beaten her more imo. She probaly had a good ol liberal upbringing.

how christian of you. i hope your mother gets cancer. then i can say your grandparents should have beaten her more so she'd learned to take better care of herself.

then there's jim morisson, janis joplin, jimi hendrix, kurt cobain, layne staley, hillel slovak, keith moon, john bonham, etc etc. lohan's far from the first musical star to struggle with the pressure of being famous. it's killed many. im glad she caught it before it was too late.

So are you saying she's too young to make sound decisions and that people her age, by which I mean teens and slightly older, are easily swayed/misled?

some people just have a natural tendency to addiction. it has nothing to do with what their "role models" do. some people can't learn to enjoy things without going overboard. it's not always someone's fault. so you can't blame "people like lindsay lohan" for everything that people who look up to those "role models" do. and as soulsinging said, isn't it a really GOOD thing that she's trying to correct her behavior? everyone makes mistakes, its ridiculous for someone to talk down on a person who has made a mistake but is trying to fix it. this mentality is part of the problem, not the solution.

there's NO EXCUSE for her to be an alcoholic at her age. pathetic. talk about a lack of parenting. just another hollywood spoiled brat.
I died. I died and you just stood there. I died and you watched. I died and you walked by and said no. I'm dead.
  • I think its a good thing that shes GOING to meetings. I'm 15, and I have a friend in rehab for alcohol. Would you rather her not get treatment?

Can't stand her. In the words of Borat, her "vajeen is loose like wizard's sleeve"

However, to be kind...I do think she has the best singing voice of all of the come lately "look at me, I can be a pop star too!" celebrity douchebags.

wow, slinging mud? did that harsh "idiot" word hurt your feelings? who's the mudslinger when you're throwing out casual judgment calls on a topic you don't know fuck-all about?
  • Yes. She tasted, and appears to have become addicted to, alcohol before she was legally allowed to. But it sounds like at least a couple of you are saying "Oh well. She started her downward spiral. She must finish it". But isn't trying to end her downward spiral a good thing? I'm not saying she should be praised for trying to stop it. By no means. Not making a mistake in the first place is of course better than making it and then correcting it. But isn't correcting a mistake better than not correcting it? And I'm not a Lindsey Lohan fan. I've never seen any of her movies

Good thing you're keeping up on Lohan. How old are you geek? I mean give me a fucking break keeping tabs on some twenty something loser. I bet you are big Paris Hilton fan too. Good thing we have you too keep us informed about all these talent less losers. Sorry if I offended your favorite stars.

You're a judgemental lot! Drew Barrymore was in the same boat when she was even younger but seemed to turn out one the nicer hollywood stars. The girls 20 for God sake. I think her movies are pretty good and she's does a better job singing than Paris and the rest. Whenever I've seen her interviewed she been entertaining. A 20 year old drinking too much make the news mmmmm.......I could of been a superstar!!!!

Something is wrong when you are following the news on this girl. Also, as far as you guys commenting on how she got there and who is to blame, who cares? If she needs help, she needs help. And it is not cool to dissect it--what if it was you who needed help? Would you like it if people were passing judgement on you from 1,000 miles away (figuratively and literally)?

  • I saw that story on E this weekend and the sad part is that she's a pretty good actress. The critics loved her performance in Bobby and I thought she was was great in Prairie Home Companion.

I hope she gets herself together before she ruins her entire career.
