I'm just looking at the facts. Average temperature samples around the world are rising. Wether they will hurt us or not is your call.
  • Dude, its scientifically proven the earth is getting warmer wether you think its our fault or not, wether you care or not. Just because its extremely cold in one place at a certain time does not mean the average global temperature is not warming. Since 1977 the average global temperature has risen 1 degree. You cannot argue any wether trend in a particular region over a short span for or against it. Its fucking cold where I am now, and I'll take the degree!.. Something like 90% + scientists agree, but I guess you know more than them because you get all your facts here.

I'm not argueing for or against us taking action. I'm just telling you, its getting warmer globally.

Thank you for clarifying that you have no proof that global warming exist. As for facts, your so-called 90% does not make anything fact. It simply means that 90% of scientists are either right or wrong. At one point of another 90% of the world believed the world was flat. Next time you roll your eyes make sure you're certain of what you're talking about. Don't roll them over unproven impressions you have of the world around you. After this years unseasonably cold temperatures, and the temperature change since 1977 is back to 0... What are you going to tell me? Because you obviously made no correlation between global warming and that 1 degree. Come on! Show me the proof! A clip of a polar bear floating on a block of ice is not sufficient. That's what they do.

Christ dude, I'm NOT argueing for or against taking action. Just because it was colder this year in the mid-west does not mean it was colder than normal in the rest of the world. Your not seeing the bigger picture. Year long averages taken from many places around the world.. and honestly, it was about 20 degrees warmer during the time of the dinosaurs, so its not hard to beleive we're back on an upwards trend wether you think its our fault or not.
  • At this point, saying that global warming isn't man made is like saying that the world isn't round. Wether you give to shits about it or not, it's proven to be happening.

Did I mention taking action against anything? No.

It appears that you're the one who is unable to understand your own words. In that very post you stated that "Whether you give two shits (me for example) about it or not, it's proven to be happening." That very statement was made in reference that global warming is man made. That being said, the fact that you believe global warming exist is already understood.

    But carry on...

Just to simply explain where I stand, I have no agenda on global warming. I am a politically centered person when leans libertarian... I understand the temperatures on this planet have gone from extreme cold when it was just a rock floating through space to really warm temperatures.. If scientists tell me average thermometer readings around the world through out the years are on an increase, I have no problem believing that. I also understand that carbon dioxide traps heat. There was much more carbon dioxide in the air during the time of the dinosaurs, hence the warm temperatures then. Cars and burning fossil fuels create carbon dioxide, so I don't believe that its far fetched that we are part of the reason those thermometers are trending up.

It's also mere speculation as to why the dinosaurs are extinct. I'm fairly certain it wasn't because of the CO2 emitted from my exhuast pipe.

By the way, incase anyone is interested, Al Gore's countdown to doomsday is at:

ok, how about this, all scientific facts aside,.. My opinion, I don't like pollution because the air smells like shit. We have the technology to rid of this shit-smelling pollutants, but we don't because that would cause businesses to loose big $$$ in the short term.

I'm still waiting for the day I don't give another dime to an oil company. For the day I can set water buckets out in the rain to collect fuel for my hydro powered car. A healthy environment is not a bad thing. I am a healthy person. I eat healthy food. I exercise. I kind of like the idea of breathing in fresh healthy air. Maybe its not realistic, but its ideal. Until somebody has a miracle solution, I am a forced subscriber to the oil industry.. As far as global warming goes, I kind of like the idea of warmer temperatures.

I never said why they went extint. I just stated it was warmer back then. I used the word "dinosaur" to give you an idea of the time when earth was warmer, to prove the point that the earth is constantly changing...

and yes, Al Gore is exaturating.. I think war and disease will kill us before global warming ever could.

Yeah... there's a solution to things. i know... let's keep our dependency on oil imports from the Middle East because that's the way we've always been doing it.

    Fair enough.

i just wish the politicians would practice what they preach.

But what I'm wondering is this... Many anti-oil folks claim that we must find alternative energy sources because at best, we have anywhere from 30 to 70 years of oil reserves left worldwide. If this is the case, why not just go ahead and use what's left up and move on from there? Mark my words, the world will not end within the next 30-70 years due to oil use. After that, there's nothing but bluer skies and greener pastures. We have no choice right?

My fear though is as we move down the line and quantities get limited, because of other developing countries, prices will skyrocket and cause great economical problems. I think its a better idea to get something in place sooner rather than later.. sure we'll be retired and give two hoots in 30 to 70 years, but if we can be 30 to 70 years ahead of the rest of the world starting now, I'm all for that.

We're already 30 to 70 years ahead of the world in most cases. And by that time, I'm fairly certain we'll have an alternative means, and that'll be great. We have a funny way of producing the needed technology when we need it. Just relax, we'll be fine.

We have top men on it even as we speak...

    Top... Men... :D

Just be prepared give the poor soul who invents this alternative means all the grief you can for the obscene profits he/she will aquire by ridding us of the horror known as oil.

  • Timothy Bell, PhD:
    http://www.canadafreepress.com/2007/global-warming020507.htm

Now I know this guy, and the thousands of other fully accredited scientists who share the same belief that global warming does not exist, will not, and do not recieve any airtime in the media, but please, refrain from calling me retarded for having an opinion the media chooses not to report. Though I do thank you for sharing your fact-filled, indepth, if not downright exciting, story.

Tim Ball habitually exaggerates his credentials. A PhD is a Doctor of Philosophy, not a Doctor of Science(DSc). At the University of Winnipeg he was a geography professor for 8 years, not the 32 he claims when he passed off this same article you're posting, 8 months ago:

    http://www.orato.com/node/398

He is not the first Canadian PhD in climatology as he claims.

He is a consultant to the "Friends of Science", an organization that recieves a third of its funding from oil companies.

He is an executive for the "Natural Resource Stewardship Project" a lobby organization with the objective of debunking climate change. They refuse to disclose their funding sources.

If you know this guy you must know he is full of crap. Please take your bullshit-ridden, rehashed, downright weak opinion piece elsewhere.

Alright Rush. Lets put your intellect to the test. Find a source that doesn't claim to be "independent" that's funded by conservative sources who claim global warming exist. Once you've done that, find a liberally funded source that claims global warming is a hoax. After you've done both, explain why you feel global warming is real. Or why it isn't.

I hope you have the dilligence to do this since you're more than dilligent in riding the coattails of another poster.

Awww you don't like cocky folks who disagree with you?? <sniffle> People try and discredit others who disagree with them all the time. I'm sure Tim's an idiot...

    In reference to Tim's credentials...

Al Gore has absolutely no credentials in the realm of science. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in government. Which obviously makes him a noteworthy spokesman for global warming.

Maybe it's the Law Degree he never recieved from Vandy that makes him an expert on this topic?
