  • He can still smell the devil. :D

What? Is he implying what I think he is? If he is, that is awesome
  • Haha, he got quite overt over the course of his speech! He's just wrapping it up, now! :) He's laid into the Pax Americana; he's talking about US funded coup attempts in Venezuela now, and "CIA terrorism".

Got to see a transcript of this, when it's ready.
  • He's now accusing the US of harbouring terrorists (the coup conspirators).

Wow, what a couple of days at the UN this has been. First Bushie, then the Prime Minister of Thailand, then the President of Iran, now Chavez. Wow
  • I can't tell if you guys actually like this stuff or if you're just amused.
  • Both.
  • Both.

I think I'll stick to the latter at this point in time.

...all things that the UN fellows should know very well about..... what a farce!

I am both amused and sick.... they are all a bunch of hypocrites!
  • He's hilarious. The lingering smell of sulfur in the room.....

ahhh Chavez...quite the humanitarian he is...poor citizens but filthy rich gov't. I guess a billion a month or so in oil revenue isn't enough to do something for his country besides by weapons.

    yea socialism!!!!!

Well reagrdless whet you may think of his policies you cant blame him for trying to defend himself. If you feel that another power was forming coups to get rid of you then arming yourself is the obviuos thing to do.

Agreed. There's police brutality and rife corruption, under Chavez. I did like the speech, though, as a bit of rhetoric.
  • Headline from fark.com:
*Hugo Chavez calls George Bush "the devil", doesn't want any child of his to play "foosball"* (made me laugh)

Ya know, if Chavez put as much effort into his country as he does w/ his childish middle-school trash talking about US, Bush, policies, and whatever. Venezuela would shine and become an example. But what am I talking about, we all want a Chavez/ Chinese ran world power....do we not?

"And I like Vicki, and she like me back! And she showed me her boobies and I like them too!"

The guy is just a corrupt demogogue ... And not because he criticizes Bush either. European leaders criticize Bush a lot, but they do so in an intelligent manner.
Not that the foosball shit isn't funny, mind you ... :)

He was holding up a copy of Chomsky's "Hegemony Or Survival", when he made the devil comment. ;)

Just see it as macabre entertainment.

This just in: Chavez said the sky is blue..and since he is evil and a socialist, it was disputed by bush followers, many of whom said..."I don't care what is fact, he said bad things 'bout me god-lovin' leader, so it must be wrong"....
  • ...I just saw the news and saw Chavez and wanted to scream out load
how much he made me smile tonight.
    - they just showed the first sequel of his speech, when he made the cross and saying things about the devil - .

p.s. seriously, this news was followed by pictures of bush, asah..., and then, news change... the pope ;)

wow, and now I find even a perfect thread for this..
    thanks for posting, really.

I am really happy and hopeful now cause one man dared out to say the truth.
he had the fists (germ: MUMM) to do so, all my respect and thanks.

to me, Bush is the most dangerious man on this planet, too
    !!!

anyway, I wanna scream go Chavez go ... :)
you have some folks behind you.

    ...
there is no way to peace, peace is the way!
...the world is come undone, I like to change it everyday but change don't come at once, it's a wave, building before it breaks.
  • He just held a press conference. I might sometimes agree with the vague gist of some of his views on international politics, and he is a charismatic and engaging speaker. He also called the UN a "worthless system", so he shares at least something in common with Bush, there.

However, I do take criticisms of his home policies seriously. The bottom line for me is, "Don't follow leaders/ Watch the parking meters." I respect the views of a poster here, regarding Bush, infinitely more than those of a head of state who may either be defending small countries against global economic imperialism, or protecting his interests alone.

You might want to look in the situation in Venezuela a bit more ... Regardless of your feelings about Bush, Chavez is undeserving of any sort of hero worship, IMHO.

Chavez is to Venezeula as Bush is to the U.S.

in power but not for long...and definitely a minority

Out of control inflation, to start. Out of control armament, to finish. Makes a wicked mix.
  • Hugo is a Chomsky fan?

their country is also divided..like us.. and these 'grown ups' continue talks of unity of the world.. get it right here first!

    hate the french
    hate the iranians
    hate the venezuleans
    hate the north koreans
hate some of the south koreans

    but dont hate

    kuwait
    israel
    britain

Bush is a misspoken Lunatic. Fuck War.
War has NEVER solved anything..regardless of the cute signs.

    Nazis still exist
    tyrants still exist
    terrorism still exists
    oppression still exists
a divided country with civil war in its past, rises to exist again

time for a new idea, simple minds!
