    I just got this email:

    Hi.

You were successful in securing 2 tickets for the 4/10/08 Santa Barbara
show, but your credit card was charged for multiple transactions. You will
only be charged one time for $146.50 and the other additional charges will
disappear from your credit card account within 3-5 business days.

    Thanks

On a somewhat brighter note, I've had the pending charge come off in less than 3 days before... I think you can call your CC company and ask what their policy/timeframe is.. maybe it's shorter

I'm not worried. My statement closes on the 4th. As long as it's off by then it's cool.

  • I'm usually not one to complain, but it seems like plenty of people picked up tickets AFTER others had inputted credit card info and gotten an error message, only to have a pending charge show up in their bank account.

Wouldn't it have logical, then, to go through those with pending charges and award the tickets to them (on a first-come, first-served basis) rather than releasing the tickets back into the system?

As it is, some people who were on right at 10:00 and had the tickets in their cart are now shit out of luck, whereas someone who may have wandered onto the site as late 11:30 might have tickets to the show.

    That just sucks.

I just called and found out that:

    1. There is a hold on my account for tickets I didn't get, AND

    2. Even though I actually did get a pair of tickets later (with a confirmation and everything), the hold for the non-tickets may cause the charge for the tickets I did get to bouce - in which case I would lose my actual tickets.

I was told to take it up with the bank, but of course the banks will be closed until the charges hit tomorrow.

i was on at 10:00....at about 10:04 i had both la shows in my cart and went to check out.....BOOM! i'm logged off and wasn't able to log back in until sometime after 11....and only then after refreshing like a spider monkey on crack did i manage tix.....fist sd, then sb and finally la1....that first hour i considered hopping on a plane to seattle and giving certain people a piece of my mind...;) i understand how 10c and pj want to keep the fanclub small and grassroots but at some point one has to realize their system is seriously flawed....
  • Once again, it appears you are at the mercy of the credit card companies and they have you by the short hairs, while you hang on their ability to electronically process your transaction. There's got to be a better way. I think if the band members knew this was going on, they would not be happy.
You can spend your time alone, re-digesting past regrets, oh
Or you can come to terms and realize

  • This is all total bullshit. I don't normally complain, I understand that being in the 10Club doesn't guarantee any of us tickets, etc etc etc.

But when I log in and have tickets in my cart several times, and I checkout several times, and get bumped each time and discover my credit card gets charged for those tickets, why do people who get tickets after me get their order filled, but not the people like me who have their card charged first thing? And now I get to wait almost a friggin week for the charge to reverse? So my bank makes interest on my tickets that I don't even fucking get?

I realize that sentence was a horrific grammar mess, but I don't care. I'm mad! And now my only shot is to dick around with Ticketmaster, while fucking goons have tickets on eBay for $800 a pop already?
  • I got my CC# to go through early for LA and then an unexpected error has occured. Then just 15 minutes ago, I got the buy button for Santa Cruz, got as far as my CC# entered again and kicked out with an unexpected error has occured. C'mon there couldn't have been as many problems 15 minutes ago as there was earlier when they just went up?
I'm not complaining, I want to try and fix something-It is very upsetting to take off work to get tickets and get your CC# entered twice to be denied.

Realistically, I doubt anyone who got tickets later just wandered on and got them. I had two for San Diego in my cart at 10:00, clicked submit with my credit card info, got kicked off, and kept trying since I never got a confirmation. I was successful at 10:30. My brother was successful at 11:10. We had both been trying from the beginning and I think this is the case for just about everyone. It sucks for everyone who got kicked out but I think the best way to have avoided this problem would have been to offer the presale to California and Vancouver area members only.

makes me glad I didn't even try to get tix

  • The real problem here is not that people got shafted out of tickets, but that an authorization was still made against their respective accounts, and in a lot of cases, multiple times. This is a huge no-no in e-commerce applications and their site should be built in such a way that this never happens. There are people who are going to have overdrawn accounts, checks bounce, and bank fees applied to their accounts due to this with what I'm assuming will be little to no recourse from the 10C. In other words, some people are going to LOSE MONEY due to this fiasco. That, my friends, is unacceptable. If you do incur bank fees or find yourself with an empty checking account and 3 10C holds on your funds, I encourage you to document *everything* and demand that the 10C reimburse you. If not, then take it up with your bank, or even Visa/Mastercard, who require their merchants to meet a basic standard of service that may/may not have been met here. In other cases, a duplicate double auth can trigger an overzealous fraud protection system into disabling your card until the bank can voice validate your transactions. Citibank customers will know what I'm talking about here..

Even worse will be if folks bought tickets later in the day and end up overdrawing their accounts to pay for the tickets they should have already paid for earlier in the day.

10 really ought to have stopped further orders outright until they reconciled the authorizations they already had. There would have been no harm in this, and would have prevented a whole lot of this hassle. Of course, had their site code had basic checks in place to prevent this we'd all be a lot better off right now.

    Rule #1, *never* double auth.

A good start would be limiting each member to one pair. When tickets are this limited anyway it seems obnoxious to me that someone was able to purchase tickets to three shows.

I was one of those. I actually got the tickets into my cart 3 times, each time the sight crashing on me, then finally made it to "submit" on check out and submitted, then crash, boom. Bank shows the charge, but I don't think Im going to get tickets. Great point, duder!!

Here is my suggestion. To all the people with the temp holds (ie...the ones that got screwed out of tickets) send these people a presale password for the ticketmaster sale and let them get their tickets an hour early. At least that way we can get in the door.

I've always been pretty happy with the Ten Club but this was ridiculous.
