Where you alive during the cold war? Things were MUCH worse then. At one point we were a trigger from the end of the world.

Do you really think so? The cold war was just that. It was a face off....
I believe we are in a far more volatile situation now than ever....

Man the way the world is now, I'm seriously scared every day of my life. There's not a moment that goes by where I'm not at least slightly peturbed about what will happen next. I'm not blambing GW or anyone in particular. I'll leave that to you guys. I'm paranoid now that a nuke will fall on my head any minute after hearing about N. Korea's test. I can't enjoy life 100%, because I'm always afraid now of my friend's in Iraq that are in danger. I already lost my best friend over there. Man the world sucks these days. But when did it ever not suck? Maybe back when all we had to worry about was grabbing some caveman food. But even they had to worry about dinasaurs or some crap. Whatever, I'm going to go have a beer and play some Final Fantasy and pretend I was in the game, instead of here.

When the beer is gone and the game is over, the same world your trying to pretend doesn't exist will still be there, in the same condition it was two hours ago. You want to pretend, then pretend you actually have the ability to make a difference.

North Korea having nukes is not America's biggest problem. How America handles the fact that North Korea has nukes is America and the world's biggest problem.
SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.

Perhaps Americans should stop worrying so much about how to handle the affairs of other countries and begin looking at it's own problems. For instance, maybe America needs to look at it's own attitude to nuclear weapons, beginning with it's dismissal under the Bush administration of the non-proliferation treaty.

or maybe the fact that right now there are a shitload of nukes pointing at major US spots from both Russia and China? ... that would really cause problems ...

You are right to be scared, my friend, I am with you.
But I am not scared particularly of having a nuke fall on my head, since this is not the real problem here. I am scared that anyone may have that nuclear bomb on his head in a few months or so. And I am scared just for knowing what we have done to this earth and what we are doing to other people out there. I am scared to just know that we humans are capable to do such things. I am scared of being part of these human beings, really. I am actually scared by the fact that I can't see myself being part of this same mankind...
But look, being scared is a natural defence, so it is good in a way, if it comes from the realization of a real danger, in order to fight it or escape it.

America's worst enemy is it's own government.

What scares me is that 90% of Americans couldn't find North Korea on a map, and yet they are scared of the place! It's also scary how the media machine in the states is so effective at scaring, and indoctrinating the public. It's a shame that people have learned nothing from the example provided us by the years of propaganda and indoctrination in Germany in the 1930's, and of the effects that this can have.

    absolutely agree

I disagree. I'm an American, something you arent, I don't believe them to be the enemy.

I agree with Byrnzie.... If the US government continue as they do, it will be the downfall of the US.

The world is indeed a scary place at times, but, IMO, there really is no sense in worrying about the things you describe. Why worry about shit you cannot control. i'm not trying to be a downer, but, lets face it, if idiot world leaders plunge us headfirst into nuclear holocaust, there aint shit i can do about it. i could really give a fat rat's ass if north korea achieves nuclear capabilities, or, if they are crazy enough to actually use them. i live in the everyday united states where it is enough to worry about being able to feed, clothe, and shelter my children. THAT'S the shit that wakes me up at night. It won't matter to me at all if North Korea, or anyone else decides to fire off a bunch of missiles if i'm already frozen to death under an overpass. Drink your beer and play your games.
