Yup.
I don't really give a flying fuck who wins at this point,
though i'd rather have McCain, simply because he doesn't have millions of blind followers who will help goose step this country off a cliff.

But here is the article ...

the six big national polls conducted since September 1, McCain has averaged 47.5% and Obama has averaged 44.8%—a 2.7-point difference that is statistically significant.

Boo Yah.

What happened?
Huh.

Where is all that self-congratulatory, Oh We're Such A Sure-Win, Hip Hip Hooray, Go black man go, Sure will be so nice to have some color in the white house, bull shit now?

Or were we just not going to report on this one?

  • So what does him being black have to do with it?

Most people around here that are supporting Obama haven't been playing the race card why are you?

Most of what I've seen (and certainly what I've posted) have been about the merits of Obama as a candidate when compared to John McCain. I've often said he should win, I never said he would. In fact, as we've seen again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again in American history, the best candidate often does not.

I think Obama should win, but I do not think he will.

I'm pulling for Obama and will probably vote for him (still considering 3rd), but the thought of him winning has not really occurred to me. He's going to get clobbered.
I cannot come up with a new sig till I get this egg off my face.

I'm playing it because it's the Pearl Jam message board, and Eddie Vedder opened his mouth of limited-political-knowledge and blabbed that at a show.

And sense then, i've seen it parroted around here enough times to take issue with it.

There ARE some around here who DO view that as a legitimate reason to vote for him -- because it will "show the world we are not racist, and we have made progress."

Other than that i could give two shits about the color of his skin.

I do however think he is full of shit.

first of all, learn how to read re: polls.

second: you'd rather have the u.s. turn into a nation of cyborgs under the supreme rulership of premier cyborg mccain? ha.

    Kinda hard to misread that.
    Ya know?

Second, McCain has to contend with a democratic congress, and a public that is MASSIVELY distrustful of a "neo-con" at this point.

The best thing our country can hope for is 4 years of gridlock, and public distrust of government.

The WORST thing we could have happen is some lying sack of shit like Obama getting in to office, and duping millions upon millions of "i just want to believe in change" uber-goobers in to supporting his every elitist-backed agenda.

national polls don't mean shit. the electoral college or whatever the fuck it's called is how we elect our prez, and the polls i've seen have obama up significantly.

Obama is *not* up significantly in the electorals ...

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama_vs_mccain/?map=10

there are about 4-8 states that will determine this election ... Colorado, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Missouri, Wisconsin ... to name a few ...

those are very close. The electoral, is very close

Exactly. While those bastards are in Washington D.C. fighting each other they aren't stealing any more money or liberty from me. I love gridlock and national holidays.

    nope.

sure that's what the title says. but the article you linked states there is a significant (ha) statistical difference of what, 2.7? what's the margin of error on these polls? i'm guessing more than that. take into consideration that these polls are usually bs because they don't poll enough people, don't poll over enough time, usually poll "likely voters" and people that have landlines . . . take into consideration that record numbers of people have been newly voting and registering and not getting polled . . . polls are for bullshit headlines like the one you posted.

second, "democratic congress" ha! yeah we're trying for one. they don't have enough of a majority to stop the republicans with their filibusters and all. checks and balances! and "MASSIVELY" distrustful of neo-cons? this coming from YOU WHO JUST POSTED MCCAIN SURGES AHEAD IN THE POLLS. this coming from you---you who mocks the use of "change" but prefers the election of mccain, the cyborg who is now all about "change."

    you are a joke.

Not here but I live in Maryland were it has been stated and very much visible that people are voting for Obama simply because he is of african american heritage

    Yes.
    I've seen it several times.

and no, i'm not digging through the muck to find it.

But i quoted you a near verbatim paraphrase of what is said,
"i think having obama in the white house will show the world that america has made a lot of progress, and that we are no longer racist."

which, of course, is a racist statement in disguise.
    right?

And like i said, Vedder said it himself: "it will be nice to have a little bit of color in the white house".

there are 3 debates still to happen (and one for the VPs) ... no one, on either side, is going to run away with this thing before that.

If it were the last week of October, there may be concern .... but, the American population is too short sighted to have it's mind completely made up right now ...

more proof that you are a joke. racism by definition is negative. that quote is not.

so basicaly you are saying you just flat out have beef with polls, period?

    Thats fine.
Then shut the fuck up and stop pretending like your analysis of polls is better than mine.

    Just say, "Polls are bullshit."

But don't come at me with your bogus poll reading superiority shtick.
