You mean price stability has to remain, i think.

    Cause rate cut EQUALS inflation.

The question is if we can keep price stability through it all.

    :D

I meant after the next rate cut (in a few days) they need to stop, to fend off inflation....

Well yeah, that's how we got into this mess...the low rates made prices (ie the principal being financed) rise. People buying shit/houses they couldn't really afford...coupled with the expectation that it'd go up forever so "I'd better buy now before that $200k house is $250k next year!"

I understand trying to stop the bleeding (relieving credit woes by forcing rates down), but let's not add fuel to the fire that started all of this. It's a big circular reference.

but this time around, lending (and receiving) is not as easy, even though rates are low. the rules have changed

Dont worry, these economic woes are merely a distraction from the real problem facing the United States (and the rest of the world) -- Britney Spears custody case/trainwreck and how bad the movie "Cloverfield" is. The smart money is going into douchebag companies.

Excellent point. They aren't giving $300k mortgages to dogs with library cards anymore.

  • Futures markets acting confused now.
Putting in lower highs and testing the downside again.

We may have seen a top here.

Dow is staying over 150 down now.

Think we may see her migrate back down a bit.

maybe -250 on the dow or so?

Don't see it going much higher.

As far as arguing the housing markets and longterm outlook here ...

meh ... i gotta say the fundamentals still suck bad, ugly, and worse.
Not seeing much cause for optimisim yet.

You can't believe how mad I was at my dog for defaulting on his loan. I smacked him with a newspaper and made him go lay down in the corner.

"What do you mean you didn't know the bank wouldn't accept Milk Bones?"

either way it should be a positive day. just ask yourself what you though the market was going to do....down at least 500...more like 600-800???

rate cuts are doing what they are supposed to do right now.

  • HYPERINFLATION?

    Thomas Jefferson:

If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them, will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a monied aristocracy that has set the government at defiance. The issuing power (of money) should be taken away from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs."

Same could be said about the "sky is falling" as pertains to the economy.

yeah but the sky really is wavering ... the strings holding it up are breaking here and there ...

what do you want from us?

Some of us are following the markets, or actively engaged in them, and it is REAL NEWS.

Forgive me for sensationalizing it, but it's in good fun, really.

No, that's fine and you should follow it. I'm trying make a point to JLew (like it matters). When someone else rattles on about the negatives on any subject he is the first person to call them Debbie Downers, etc... and America is strong, everything will be fine. But if the subject is interesting to him such as this one then dont fuck with him. Extremely hypocritical of him but he will never see it this way of course.
