Yes i read your original post on RP. I view you as one of few good sources of opinon on these boards. That being said, i willingly admit that Ron Paul is not the PERFECT presidential candidate ...
My main thing here is the approach and the methods some use to get their point across. I view Dennis' optimist way of approaching problems and viewing the world as a much better way to get people to open up to your ideas and not simply cause people to tune you out. Dennis takes on these problems and still manages to surround himself with positive energy. He seems hopeful and a happy person...not full of contempt and anger. I'm not saying this is true of Paul but rather many of his followers.

Local attorney acquitted on federal income tax charges
Cryer stopped filing income taxes more than 10 years ago
July 13, 2007
By Loresha Wilson ljwilson@gannett.com
A Shreveport attorney who has challenged the government for years on the legality of filing federal income taxes has been acquitted on charges he failed to file returns.
A federal jury unanimously found Tommy Cryer not guilty this week on two misdemeanor counts of failure to file.
And according to Cryer, the prosecution dismissed two felony charges of tax evasion prior to trial.
Attempts by The Times on Thursday to reach U.S. Attorney Donald Washington or Bill Flanagan, first assistant U.S. attorney, were not successful. Calls made to the two were not immediately returned.
"The court could not find a law that makes me liable or makes my revenues taxable," Cryer said. "The Supreme Court has ruled that the government cannot impose an income tax on anything but the profits and gains. When you work for someone you give your service and labor in exchange for money, so everything you make is not profit or gain. You put something into it."
Cryer was indicted last year on two counts of tax evasion. The indictment alleged he evaded payment of $73,000 in income tax to the Internal Revenue Service during 2000 and 2001.
Cryer created a trust listing himself as the trustee, and received payments of dividends, interest and stock income to that trust, according to the indictment. He also was accused of concealing his receipt of the sources of income from the IRS by failing to file a tax return on behalf of that trust.
"I determined that my personal earnings were not 100 percent profits, some were income," Cryer said. "I refuse to file, I refuse to pay unless they can show me I have a lawful reason to pay."
"What I earned was my own personal labor. I am giving something in exchange. I'm giving my property and I don't belong to anyone else."
Cryer says he stopped filing returns more than 10 years ago after he investigated claims that income tax was a sham. He contends the law doesn't actually tax personal earning.
prior to this being posted; i told every one of you about this loophole. cryer really needs to put his trust offshore but he's got the idea. being offshore allows him to remove pre-tax money without government involvement. it's also better to have someone else as trustee so the government can't say YOU are in control of the money.
thanks for backing me up drifting. people here think i talk just to hear myself.

that couple didn't play the game right. defiance and using legal loopholes are two different things.
Question: Does this now set up a precedent? If so, one wouldn't even need an expensive law team, right?
And, would people be able to go back and get the tax money the gov't took in previous years?

it's law and it's been law. you can't go back because you didn't have a trust set-up for the past years.

well, assuming it DOES NOT get appealed and WON ON APPEAL by the GOVERNMENT (meaning, they get to reargue their case AGAINST Cryer, and then subsequently WIN their case) ... assuming that, then YES, it absolutely would set up a precedent ... WHICH IS WHY NO MAJOR NEWS MEDIA (except for the lovely local Shreveport Times, YAY SHREVEPORT TIMES!) ... HAS REPORTED IT!
Also,
at the very least, you have CRYER'S ENTIRE LEGAL POSITION available on his website. And if THAT gets taken down, i have a copy saved!

ever hear of double jeprody? cryer CANNOT be tried again. the government CANNOT appeal the decision.
I don't mind paying my share of taxes. I mean, i happen to like the idea of traffic lights and paved highways and cops and firefighters and soldiers.
And I also don't mind if some of my taxes goes to someone who needs a hot meal. I earn enough to the point of if I'm hungry, i pop down to the local taco stand and eat. I don't concern myself with how another person got to the point where he or she is hungry... I concern myself with getting them a meal.
And i also like the idea of my taxes going to fund maintenance and upgrades to B-2 Bombers. I know... B-2 don't serve a purpose against terrorists or insurgents, but, even though I hope it doesn't happen... I don't discount that possibility of one of the big boys like Russia or China wanting to wage war against us. If it does happens, I'll be glad we have those B-2. If it doesn't happen... I'd like to think the threat of those B-2 were on the minds of their military strategists.

We may get services back in the form of the military and police, but the majority of our taxes goes toward entitlements and welfare. We never see a dime of that spending and the people who receive it are no better off.
awww, it's so cute to see the poor neocons tremble at the mention of that most fearsome and horrid monster from their childhood, the one their daddy whispered into their ear about as they sat on his knee eating from that silver spoon, the awesome, terror-inspiring WELFARE QUEEN!!!! those evil witches, the dregs of our society, lazy and corpulent, laying around the house and laughing as they lounge in their palatial ghetto dwellings and cash checks provided by the hard labor of trust fund babies.

if i were representing the government; i may strengthen the case and charge him with one of the charges that were dropped. they can do that because he wasn't TRIED for that offence and therefore not aquitted. thus the reason for dropping charges when your case is in trouble. the government gets loopholes too.

A sensible attitude. For me, you can hold a lot of that military hardware out of it. But I do see some need for a military.
The point is nevertheless that things like this have to be covered somehow, like taxes. In a perfect world taxes wouldn't be mandatory, but a perfect world wouldn't have war or need for a military either, so...

Check the United States Code ... Read all of Title 26 ... find ANY SECTION that "IMPOSES LIABILITY" on YOU for income tax.
I CAN NOT find it ...
and lets be clear ... i am not asking you to find a section that "IMPOSES A TAX" ... there is definately that ... but for EVERY OTHER TAX there is a section that "imposes a tax" and a compliment section that "HOLDS [PERSON\CORPORATION X] LIABLE" for that tax
clever little scheme it is.
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?
But what about all of the poor people on medicaid and medicare that you're denying money to? What about the welfare recipients who will starve because you refuse to pay your income taxes?

what about those of us who will have to pay even more in taxes because of those who choose not to pay theirs?
The more taxes that go unpaid, the govt goes deeper into debt.
Medicare is not just for poor people...many seniors use it as well.
Do you think Cryer really has credibility?
If his views were correct, don't you think someone would have prevailed many years ago, and, as a result, don't you think Congress would have closed the loophole?

-there is no law anywhere saying you have to pay a federal income tax...
(state income taxes i'm sure are much more solid and thus unavoidable)
Lets be clear about this.
1. State income tax laws are not necessarily more solid. In fact, most state income tax laws start with a phrase that begins something like "For a citizen of the state of [X] who during the last year was liable for Federal income tax, there is hereby imposed a tax on the income of ..."
2. There is no law making you liable to pay Federal income tax.
I challenge ANYONE to find ANY statute in the United States Code (or fuck it, try the Code of Federal Regulations too, if you want (even though the CFR technicaly is NOT law, just rules pertaining to the laws set forth in the USC) thatholds you liable to pay tax...
Notice the BIG FUCKING LIE in the heading for Subchapter A: Determination of Tax Liability ... notice, that when you click on Subchapter A: Determination of Tax Liability, what you see is the following: PART I—TAX ON INDIVIDUALS
PART II—TAX ON CORPORATIONS
PART III—CHANGES IN RATES DURING A TAXABLE YEAR
PART IV—CREDITS AGAINST TAX
[PART V—REPEALED]
PART VI—ALTERNATIVE MINIMUM TAX
PART VII—ENVIRONMENTAL TAX
[PART VIII—REPEALED]
The bold section is the ONLY relevant section to YOUR tax liability, assuming like most ordinary Americans, you work for an employer.
Under that bold section, which is Part I of "DETERMING YOUR FUCKING TAX LIABLITY" ... this is ALL you see ... this is IT, people ... THERE IS NO FUCKING LIABILITY ANYWHERE IN HERE:
§ 1. Tax imposed
§ 2. Definitions and special rules
§ 3. Tax tables for individuals
[§ 4. Repealed.]
§ 5. Cross references relating to tax on individuals
Click on 1. ... do it ... READ IT .... yeah yeah ... blah blah blah ... "on the taxable income of [x] there is hereby imposed a tax of the following (read the chart)" ... blah blah blah ...
Huh? IS THAT FUCKING CURIOUS ?
Under "DETERMINING TAX LIABILITY" there is NOT EVEN ONE FEEBLE MENTION of LIABILITY ... it just goes straight in to IMPOSING a tax ... but hey ... they don't even impose the tax on "YOU" ... it's on your ... GASP ... TAXABLE INCOME ...
well, WHAT THE FUCK IS MY TAXABLE INCOME?
I thought i was supposed to be determining MY GODDAMN TAX LIABLILITY ... afterall ... i did click on the fucking section entitled ... determining YOUR tax LIABLILITY ...
You imposed a tax ... but i guess i'm not liable to pay it ... because besides not enumerating any liability, you DID NOT EVEN IMPOSE A TAX ON ME ... you imposed it on my TAXABLE income ... WHICH I STILL DON'T KNOW WHICH PORTION OF IS TAXABLE ... since your tricky bitch ass never assigned ANY of my income or my person a LIABILITY ...
son of a bitch!
Also notice, that in the IRS's OWN bullshit PDF, which HAS NO MARKINGS, SIGNATURE, STAMP, SEAL, DATE, or any other official markings on it ... The Truth About Frivolous Tax Arguments ... notice they make NO MENTION of THIS SPECIFIC ARGUMENT ... which is, namely ... the entire United States Code FAILS TO IMPOSE A LIABILITY UPON YOU to pay any fucking tax.
Now, can any lawyers on here make sense of this?
I just found it through Wikipedia: Subject:

I seriously doubt he's up late at night with a pencil and a 1040. He pays accountants to handle this who work for the government most likely.

isn't it funny how the people on here who agree to pay MORE taxes to provide socialized medicine are curious about how to aviod taxes all together?
i think people don't like how their taxes are being spent and that's why they don't want to pay. that and a few other laws. like social security being able to tell you you have sufficient money and therefore are not entitled to receive the money YOU paid in. if you do get it; it's a fraction of what you made so seniors are given just enough to starve slower.
instead of taking the citizens that an illegal snuck into the country to birth; we let them stay and provide them with social services. the child should be taken by cps and placed for adoption; and the felons that came here illegally; sent back.
so when the government starts spending money to help americans; americans will pay taxes. IMO.
I seriously doubt he's up late at night with a pencil and a 1040. He pays accountants to handle this who work for the government most likely.
For a company that huge, the audits would be non-stop.
the bigger the company the less frequent the audits. mostly because of man power. auditing also only covers what's written down. books can say one thing yet reality can be another. what i think it comes down to is that a big company got that way by learning how to hide money. the smaller companies are more likely to get caught.
"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government..."

the bigger the company the less frequent the audits. mostly because of man power. auditing also only covers what's written down. books can say one thing yet reality can be another. what i think it comes down to is that a big company got that way by learning how to hide money. the smaller companies are more likely to get caught.
