Would it have hurt to let the rabbi install the menorah and keep the tree? What if he did all the work himself? I'm sure the jewish customers would have appreciated it. I don't think the rabbi should have gotten so worked up about it. But the airport kinda overreacted, too.

I suppose the airport's view was if they put up a menorah, what else will they have to put up? Who will be the next person asking to put up an 8 foot something to represent his/her religion/beliefs.....

What other people said, the airport officials probably got fed up with all this PC stuff, called the Rabbi's bluff and now the Rabbi is realising what he started!

Merry Christmas everyone!!!! :D:D I'm gonna have a tree with baubles and lights and presents underneath it!!! :D:D

Don't you mean "not silly for a minority to have someone else's voice"?

True, nevertheless, it probably should have been put up to a vote. This was about "offending" people, not destroying forests. The main reasoning behind taking down the Christmas is to "not offend" someone, yet by doing so they offend many???? That is silly.

ya taking down decorations that have nothing to do with politics is crazy.

This rabbi is demanding someone else express his views, and he's threatening those people with the force of the state if they don't do so. I see absolutely nothing wrong with Sea-Tac's response. Based on the world this rabbi and his lawyer are demanding, it is the correct response.

Yes, lol, sometimes seperating yourself from the rest of society can be a bad thing. I'm always amazed when I hear about KKK chapters and Neo Nazis still existing. I guess it's a good thing those groups aren't large enough to own airports :)

I told you Christmas trees were unconstitutional. Now if they really have no religious meaning, why would someone from another faith be offended by them?

I agree! There would be no stopping all the religious beliefs who would want to be represented......and that would unfortunately ruin it for the majority.

Again, this all goes back to my previous thread about political correct greetings....

If the National Holiday is Christmas......then face it.....that is what will be in public places!!!!! That Rabbi screwed the pooch by threatening a lawsuit. He is the Grinch who stole Christmas!!!!

indeed, the rabbi was being a douche. Part of being tolerant and respectful of other peoples beliefs is not being a dick about your own and pushing them on everybody else. In this case it's not even religious, it's being festive for the holidays.

Menorahs are all over especially at my favorite Jewish deli, never once have I been offended and why would anyone be offended by a menorah a christmas tree or a cross what have you, there are so many other more valid symbols to be upset by? Never hurt the awesome bagels or the cream cheese.

"can't we all just freaking get along?"
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

i am happy to report that there is a large christmas tree in waterloo station. :) when i go to the airport i shall report if they have any. on the whole issue of religious stuff in places i think it is right that when it say diwali (hindu celebration of light) these places have decorations commemorating it. i think it would be nice for everyone to be able to celebrate each others special days.
