Olbermann's special comment on exploitation of 9/11

  • Olbermann might actually be the most despicable human being on earth.

    And I'm only slightly exaggerating.

Never mind that Osama Bin Laden, Kim Jong-Il, or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are wackos and want to kill millions of people that disagree with their views. You decide to direct your hate at a guy who wants to improve his/our/YOUR country.

    Give me a freaking break.
No longer overwhelmed it seems so simple now.

Doesn't make him any less correct on this.

I was only pissed because I thought it was a cheap copy of the DNC exploiting all of the Katrina footage.

The DNC did not have some tribute film of Katrina like the RNC did for 9/11 ... come to think of it ... if over 1,800 people died (and another 700 or so are still missing), why didn't the RNC have a tribute to those affected by Katrina?

    Maybe because ...

    1) Fear is what republicans like to run on?
    2) This admisitration completely fucked up the relief efforts of New Orleans?
    3) The folks affected were poor?

    hey there floyd1975.

i'm going to have to argue with you here. i was there and didn't see exploitation of katrina footage. and i even attended convention business every day for the full amount of time.

even if they were to highlight katrina, what would be the issue? that area is still messed up and people should be reminded that there's still work to do. it's also a nice reminder of the failed bush administration and why we need ch-ch-change.

That, sir, was a masterful statement.

  • I am not defending the RNC 9/11 video at all, but how is Olbermans employer, MSNBC, replaying the whole original newscast any different? They are exploiting 9/11 for ratings.

What newscast are you talking about? Do you mean the original 9/11 video that was shown on their newscast?

    Arguing is fun.

I only really saw it before and during President Carter's speech.

I believe that more people than just President Bush deserve blame for Katrina. Even some Democrats. The point that many Republicans make, which I don't buy, is that 9/11 was caused by years of weak foreign policy during President Clinton's terms. This is why I don't find either party's use of the videos to be exploitative but I find both to be done with the same intent.

oh you're going to love this. that's when i stepped out for a smoke. when i came back someone was all, 'you just missed jimmy carter.' but i thought she said that he just came out and waved pretty much.

sure some democrats could be at fault for that stuff too. and videos like both are of course politicized. but if it helps at all, there were fundraisers outside of convention business for katrina. so at least part of that could have served as a reminder to pony up some cash to help fix what the government didn't.

I've seen several people on here expressing their dislike of Olbermann, but why exactly? Yes, he is obviosly slanted left, and if your a conservative you will not agree with most of what he says. But he is the only one with balls enough, on any of the networks, to tell it like it is. His special comments legendary and should be heard by everyone! It might wake some people up.

It was actually not a bad speech. I thought he was pretty effective.

Did you have a good time out there? Denver is awesome. I actually was supposed to go to both conventions but wound up not going to either one.

The same exact thing could be said for O'Reilly.
  • I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Keith Olbermann.. I think he is a true patriot and cares deeply for this country. His program is a permanent fixture on my tivo list.

He was without a doubt dead on with this commentary.

    He loves himself, not America.

If he wants to improve America, why doesn't he have a show about improving America, instead of a bash the Republicans show? Seems to me if the Dems had ideas that would help America, Olbermann would talk about them. Instead he plays politics.

Olbermann is an elitist in every sense of the word, and his false anger and patronizing words are despicable. Before he became a tool of the liberal left, his show was full of Hollywood gossip. He's a hack.

YOU think he is telling it like it is. I hope everyone doesn't wake up to become selfish, patronizing asses.

You are totally right.. he is one of the only ones with THE BALLS to say what needs to be said ~ and he says it well.

Olbermann tells it how it is. And that really frightens the conservatives. You can see it on this board.

  • The worst part of this Special Comment was the part regarding McCain's Bin Laden comments. Olbermann is grasping at straws here, and this is a clear example of the false outrage that Obama was talking about yesterday. Just because McCain says he knows how to get Obama, does not mean he hasn't brought this strategy to the government. McCain during the entire Iraq war has been pushing for more troops as the solution, and guess what, for 4 years he was ignored. Finally, they send more troops in and things improve. Whose to say his strategy to get Obama is a strategy that the Bush administration is too weak to take?

Olbermann does not know this. Olbermann gets angry and assumes. And that is why he is and sounds like a fool.
