I know its slightly off topic, but what it really says in the Bible is "thou shalt not murder" but in the context of war, killing is allowed.

But, that doesn't mean I support General Pace. Cause I don't.

Then I guess I have higher morals than the bible on that topic since I do not believe killing for any reason is acceptable.

Ok. I don't know if they're "higher" or just different, but that's fine by me.

Everyone should be able to have their own views on morality and life until it doesn't agree with the "correct" view of "let everyone do what makes them happy without anyone saying they don't like it."

Who cares? So this guy thinks its immoral? Does anyone care that you can get kicked out of the military for adultery? What if its an open marriage? Still adultery in their eyes but hey..the married people are okay with it so why shouldn't everyone else be?

    Nonsense.

For example; please explain how the following thread exhibits a disdain for 'God' or for religion...

I'm willing to specifically say it is higher. Undoubtedly.

Yes - because God condones killing, right? How far into the commandments do you have to get before you see the words "Thou shall not kill"?
As far as it takes me to see U.S dollars with 'In God we trust' printed on them whilst pondering how many people may be being executed in U.S prisons today, and how many Iraqis may be wiped out today.
Are you saying that God's word, or what a mystic has interpreted as the word of God is on par with what the general population decides to print on their coins and to use as justification to back killing?

No. I was pointing out the blatant hypocrisy of what many American so-called Christains have interpreted and implemented as the word of 'God'.

Okay. From what I saw, know1 was referring to the word of God specifically, as interpreted in the commandments which was culled by a mystic experience. That is different than the hypocrisy of the common man who does not have mystical awareness or even insight and who is confusing his own limits for the word of God or natural law.

so much for "supporting our troops"

i guess you only get support if you're straight.

Or...as the article mentions....not an adulterer.

I wonder if anyone thinks these troops will be treated any differently to the Nam vets a few years down the road?

Yes. Did he distort the mystical interpretation he was referring to? Common man can align with mystical truths, or they can separate from them.

On this specific point, he made the point that it is not God that condones killing, but that it is rather man who distorts God's word and justifies killing. Do you take issue with that?

For me, the real adultery includes pre-marital sex. So by that definition, are any of us adulterers offended when people say it is immoral?
Real adultery does not include pre-marital sex. That's fornication.

You're not an adulterer, you're a fornicator, and the general had nothing to say about you or your "sins" - likely because he's enjoyed a bit 'a fornication himself.
