I know I'm going to sound like a broken record but we completely fucked up in Afghanistan. We did the job half-assed because this administration had it's eyes on Iraq and never really gave it a 100% effort in Afghanistan.

well I dont know. we did take the taliban out of power and put el queda on the run. Iraq was definitely a distraction but I dont know what we could have done in pakistan short of an all out invasion.

We did take the Taliban out of power and put Al Qaida on the run but we failed to close the deal. We outsourced an important part of the mission and that was to capture Bin Laden. We didn't leave the necessary troops in place to successfully secure the country and completely dismantle the Taliban.

OK, Iraq is what 20-25 million people? And Iran looks tough to handle with 70 million. Pakistan is 170 million people. That's another ball-game entirely. You'd require at least the draft back to get anywhere close to anough personnel...

One day we will realize that it is ignorant to focus on "Terrorists".

    A. Noone is a "Terrorist"
    B. Terrorism will be far less effective when nations work together.

Out policy has been and continues to be one of division and hatred...

In a world filled with division and hatred - terrorism thrives.

The Iraqi military was soundly defeated in roughly 1 month. Iran was unable to accomplish this over a period of 8 years.

And we're seeing what good that did you. Imagine the fun aftermath after trashing a nation 7-8 times the size of Iraq...

invading pakistan is obviously not an option. but we arent really going after pakistan. its the tribal areas that border afgahistan that is the problem. these areas shouldnt ever be considered part of pakistan.

You in plural. Making a generalized statement towards americans. No use of you being able to take out any conventional army quickly, if the opponent dont field an army per se. Ref Iraq.

well perhaps if both sides weren't being abetted in different ways by the united states of america, the result would have been different.

Exactly. When we seek division, destruction, hatred, well, guess what comes back to us. When we seek to create, problem-solve and to bring together I wonder what'll happen then. It looks like we humans haven't evolved past that tipping point in general.

Terrorism is just the convenient term for the fallout for our lack of problem-solving ability.

In my case, you are talking to a person with a worldview that is about seeking to understand all worldviews. No worldview is to be demonized, in my view. To demonize the other person's/group's worldview is the set up an unrealistic view of good=us, bad=them. You are the slave to whom you make yourself a slave to, my friend. Putting yourself as victim to a persecutor is an imbalanced perspective. It is the opposite of a balanced, potent perspective.

I'm fully aware of the evil that lurks in the hearts of men because I seek to understand it. And that evil is in all men. Pointing the finger does not work for problem solving. It does work for war, though.

What is it with you and blaming men for everything? I can't even have a simple conversation with you and you blast me into next week. If I had a tank, my finger would be pointing directly at you!

So, how can terrorism exist (example "B" from you), when you clearly state that "no one is a terrorist" (example "A" from you).

LOL. Abu seems to sympathize with the actions of these terrorists most of the time. I think he feels some kind of kindred spirit with them.

I'll give it a try. liberalism can only be explained by emotion.

Let's face it...most of us are lazy. and we have our faults...everyone is self-conscious about something. and we all feel for other people...we are all connected. liberalism is based on a few central tenants but the main emotion is guilt. "I have a bunch of issues, so who am I to 'judge'" the other is the need to be accepted. It's hard to stand up for certain beliefs when lazy people attack you as a racist, biggot, etc. who want's to deal with that? so it's easier to go along, and not actually discuss things. Liberalism plays us for all of our fears, our insecurities and trumps doing what is right.

that's as a logical take as i can give...
