  • We have the stupidest cops in the modern world.
There is something wrong with that statement fundamentally. Of course we have the stupidest cops in modern world, we are IN modern world We don't have any stupid cops from other times. Cause then, well, they would be very unprepared.

  • I like your reasons too!

I didn't realize though that I could depend on a television station for facts. haha Especially one called the HISTORY channel. Don't defend it, I'm just kidding around.
You can learn a lot from the history channel ^_^

They semi-recently did a special on all sorts of drugs... and hour or two on every major one. Very informative (and entertaining) :).

That sounds cool, I always liked the War Channel, er uh, History Channel. One of these days I'll let myself spend money on cable.

  • My feeling about pot being a gateway drug is this: Pot just so happens to be on the bottom rung of the ladder of drugs. It's easy to assume that if you've reached the top of the ladder (oh, say, meth) that you stepped on that bottom rung to begin with. Not everyone who smokes poit will climb that ladder, but if you climbed it, you've most likely smoked pot (hence, it's seen as a gateway)

Put it this way. Robitussin is like the bottom rung for medicines. But just because you've used Robitussin (or Thera-flu or whatever) doesn't mean you'll be trading blow jobs for oxycontin. But chances are if you're trading the blow jobs for the pills, you've most likely used Robitussin.

Maybe that wasn't the best example in the world.

As for driving, I agree that it is waaaaaaaay less dangerous than alcohol. I also agree with the person who said its about responsibility. I can drive just fine, if not better (I am prone to severe driving agression and road rage). My boyfriend loses focus, however, and cannot. We plan accordingly.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you, just having some fun. Some consider Marijuana a medicine. So would Robitusin still be the bottom rung of its ladder or would pot take its place thus putting Robi on the second rung. To further the paradox, remember this. You put your feet on the bottom rung. Your hands grab out for the 5th or 6th depending on one's height. So really, what is important is the higher rungs. Which supports your point really, you must watch out for the higher rungs from the get go, or the gateway if you will. Since we use our hands, the gateway is really all of the first 5 or 6 rungs as a whole. Why set weed apart from the others just becasue it is more common. It is more common because it is safer and it grows on trees. It appears to be a gateway. If someone smokes weed and then at some point later snorts a line, this is no real implication that the weed was a gateway. What motivated the smoking of weed? Maybe that is the gateway.

Okay, I'm being comedic here, its obvious, but seriously...What I'm saying is one needs to own themselves, period. I am mine. If I am forming a habit that is negative, I should maintain enough comprehensiveness (spell?) and self awareness to know when to step back. What I am saying is that even if weed is a gateway drug, you as yourself must be the gatekeeper. You own your mind. If you aren't a good gatekeeper and make stupid decisions, bad things will come through your gate. A stupid person need not smoke weed. They cannot see when their gatekeeping abilities are diminishing. Enter discipline, self-control and reflection.

So, let's add a dimension to your parable of the ladder. Instead of a ladder we climb up and reach out for, it is a ladder leading down a hole and the first rung you speak of is the top one, the first one on which we both grab and step onto. Well we could step past the top one or two, but that would jsut be disecting the illustration TOO much...lmao.

Don't most teens die from alcohol? I mean how often do you here of a kid dying from weed? Why don't we see more commercials aimed to stop kids from drinking? It seems everytime I watch the local news its another teen was driving under the influence of alcohol, going the wrong direction on the highway, and I'm sure anyone who has smoked will agree with me, I'd much rather drive after smoking than drinking. The only time you ever here about anyone getting busted for weed is for possession really, how many times do you here about someone being arrested for being stoned compared to being drunk? I don't know it could just be me, but I think we are misinforming our youth. Please...comments!
there have been anti-dope campaigns over in britain too recently, mainly focused on the popularity of skunk which apparently is a far straonger varient of the drug. Alcohol in moderation does not lower pruductivity which marijuana does in chilling people out to a huge extent. I like a good smoke and drink tho

That goes without saying. I mean, why the fuck would you bother getting up off your couuch and into a car when you could just as easily stay where you are and continue munching pringles and playing the playstation?
P.s, the best game to play stoned has to be 'Bomber man!'

That made me think of Bill Hicks rant on stoned drivers, pizza trucks going 5mph everywhere :D

Anyway I havent seen these adds, but they are airing adds in the Netherlands too. I think many people under estimate the effects of pot. For kids, esp now that I know a brain grows till u are around 23, should be informed about the risks, as they are informed about alcohol (which doenst seem to help at all). And how both really influence they way your brain grows these crucial years (15-23).

If u'd have me pick the lesser evil, I wouldnt know which one to pick. Imo (almost) everything in moderation goes (not talking about driving here). I don't understand seeing people smoking early in the day, on their way to school or work etc. Than again if I see the same people washing cars or throwing my trash in a truck...

But back to driving, I'd much rather have someone who smokes (and knows how to handle it) on the road than a drunk. Weed doesnt make one careless and self assured they CAN drive, as booze does.

Speaking of Bill Hicks... I think he's the one and only person worth citing when it comes to this debate....

“They lie about marijuana. Tell you pot-smoking makes you unmotivated. Lie! When you're high, you can do everything you normally do, just as well. You just realize that it's not worth the fucking effort. There is a difference.”

"I have never seen two people on pot get in a fight because it is fucking IMPOSSIBLE. "Hey, buddy!" "Hey, what?" "Ummmmmmm...." End of argument.”

“I think people need to be educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug. Marijuana is an herb and a flower. God put it here. If He put it here and He wants it to grow, what gives the government the right to say that God is wrong?”

"If you don't believe drugs have done good things for us, then go home and burn all your records, all your tapes, and all your CDs because every one of those artists who have made brilliant music and enhanced your lives? RrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrEAL fucking high on drugs. The Beatles were so fucking high they let Ringo sing a few songs."

The 1st part I understand and know, just look at the Bill Hicks quotes somewhere earlier it's true! Under estimated is the degree that people can get really hooked on pot and have a hard time kickin the habit.

The 2nd part, sure we have grey haired conservative nazis here, we just don't listen to 'm or elect them to a position where they have much to say. But sure we have 'm, ultra conservative vinegar drinkers..
