Anyone else get nervous watching debates?

As we mentioned earlier, it will depend whether McCain was able to successfully paint Obama as naive, inexperienced, or callow in the minds of undecided voters. It doesn't matter what we "decideds" think.

If McCain was unable to do that, and Obama comes off looking like a credible commander-in-chief in a dangerous world, Obama will have gotten what he needed out of the deal.

But I don't know how undecideds think, so I don't know who succeeded.

sure, being the radical that i am, i have some differences with Obama, but I absolutely want him to win the election. McCain and Palin's buffoonery is just too appalling to deal with.

I think the polls will show Obama taking a stronger lead in the next few days.

I thought they were rather evenly matched, although I have to say that I do agree with Obama's thoughts more. And, given that foreign policy is where McCain is said to hold strength, McCain didn't do as well as I thought he might. I thought Obama did a good job of calling the bullshit, but that he was almost too quick to do it. Next debate, he needs to wait a longer time, I think, to be perceived as letting McCain have his say, however wrong, before interjecting. I think that's more people pleasing, not that Obama was wrong in calling McCain out.

Overall, I think Obama looked more like a leader...he took the lead in everything, including being mindful of the time schedule, greeting Leherer (sp?), etc. He was out in front and out there first. McCain in the campaign has seemed like a real follower...like he waits to see what Obama will do before acting. As usual, Obama is out there thinking and doing first. Of the two, Obama just seems more like a leader and McCain his faithful Guy Friday. From a once-was Girl Friday myself, I think I know what this looks like.

one more point: i thought Gore and Kerry were awful in their debates against Bush. i mean, how the fuck do you not out-debate George W Bush???? Obama could have done it easily.

There's so much information and stimulus out there now that it's hard to see any debates as being blowouts anymore. It's not like Kennedy/Nixon anymore when it was all they would talk about on TV for the whole week, giving a judgment. For every huffingtonpost saying Obama won there is a National Review saying McCain won. With all the information abound, I don't see anymore blowouts. And someone would be blindly partisan to say that there was a blowout tonight.

They both had some sucky moments and some non-sucky moments. I wasn't left feeling that one triumphed over the other.

You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time...McCain looks sick as fuck. Take that from someone who deals with sick people all the time. Somethings not right with him.

I guess we just have to wait and see who wins the spin cycle, since that's what *really* matters.

I think Obama held his own pretty well, and he actually did better than I expected him to.

I think McCain did pretty well, but I expected him to blow Obama out of the water on this.

I don't know if that means anything...but that's what I think. lol

I think McCain won.
I hate the way Dems fight back. for example Kerry was destroyed by the ‘flip flop’ attack.

John misquoted Obama and while Obama corrected him, I truly don’t think Americans are smart enough to see thru that tactic John used.
