So it's everybody else's fault for misinterpreting his words now. That's kind of a half-assed apology. It would have been so much easier for him if he just said, after the event, something like, "I'm sorry...I misspoke." Bush could really do that a lot of times too.

It's all you're really going to get from a politician anyway. Kudos to him for at least clarifying his point. I think it's funny that he would imply that poor people have to join the military to get by in life as if that was the only viable option but hey, it wasn't my joke. Obviously he was taking a shot at the administration but maybe he should leave the comedy up to Carlin next time.

It's just funny that so many arguments here are based completely on ones interpretation of what was said, be it Bush, Kerry, whoever.

98% of it is implied meaning and semantics. There's so much crap read into anything anyone says, it's almost akin to breaking down a QB's bad performance. The vast majority is hearsay

There's no real news anymore politically, why even make statements?

The brilliant folks are in the editing rooms deciding how to turn a phrase into the way they want their stories viewpoints to show. (yeah I love Agenda Setting theory)

Everyone intelligent already knows where everyone else stands. It's why I hate the public school system....even the voting process is dumbed down to the lowest common denominator.

Pick an issue or 3 people. Vote on em. Mine is economics. Thusly, I vote for 3rd parties.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

I just talked to my daughter and asked if her husband, a decorated Iraq war veteran, felt that John Kerry owed him an apology. Her response:

"Don't be silly, he's smarter than that."

So now your daughter is cutting down the intelligence of the military? Nice. ;)

Guess what...you son-in-law doesn't equal the entire military.

ANyhow, I still don't care what J. Kerry said. He's an idiot for his many other ideas.

Did you just quote yourself? LMAO That's awesome. I respect anyone who has the audacity to quote themselves, and then respond to it. LOL Classic.

this has probably been said before...but, the apology, if one is to be demanded, should be demanded from the Bush II Administration. Even if Kerry had meant to disparage the troops...compare that to the laundry list of truly TERRIBLE things that bush has put in front of them and you have "whatever number vs. ONE"...

i think it behooves kerry to apologize because his remarks were definitely such that they could be taken out of context. but, let's look at the REAL issue here, which is: bush, rumsfeld, cheney, and rice...have to take responsibility for the wrongful deaths, injuies, maimings, tortures, etc.
