Exactly. Why would be happy about this?

the point is, who cares if he smokes meth and has sex with gay hookers..... it is HIS life, he does not believe the a single word of what he preaches, he is a business man. if telling a story gets an enormous congregation to give him 10 percent of what they own, he is going to tell that story. if hatred and homophobia, and bigotry is the troff his followers choose to feed from, that is what he is going to feed them. this man has become a multimillionaire performing for his congregation, trying to amend the constitution to write in bigotry..... but whatever turns a buck..... how much money do you think his flock gave him for taking this stance? A WHOLE FUCKING LOT! weekly meetings with president bush.... all that power, all that influence, all those blind people believing everything he has to say and giving him so much money to say it....... he does not believe in god any more than he believes in the tooth fairy. this is what he and george bush have in common..... they both know how to prey on the gullible, not believing a word of what they say... they are smarter than that, they know who to play to in order to gain power and it seems to work every time. it seems so obvious to so many of us, and when these greedy businessmen who prey on the weaknesses of others fall, it is interesting to watch. again, i don't fault him for smoking meth or fucking gay whores.... his life... whatever. his lies and deceit are in taking advantage of his 30 million fools is a worse deed in my opinion, and for sure attempting to write bigotry into my nations constitution is his biggest fault...

how long till he checks into rehab? i know when i drink, i shout anti semitic slurs, molest teenage boys, and have extra marital affairs with gay hookers. its all par for the course... regarless, anyone who listened to a word this piece of work was saying, and actually gave him 10 percent of everything they make, will believe any excuse he comes up with.........

    Not long. ;)

He will book into rehab for drug and especially alcohol abuse, and after a string of famous leaders going to rehab for "alcohol abuse" because it causes them to seek gay sex, the 2008 election will now be about re-illegalising alcohol to protect our children from being turned into gays.

Everyone is a hypocrite man. Just as it's hypocritical for you to call a US Senator, John "i cant keep my mouth shut" Kerry, when Bush has slipped and said things 10X's worse than Kerry has.

he has already admitted to some of the claims. so he is NOT innocent.

    next?

that's right, "some" and no one here has ANY idea what he's admitted to...so he's not innocent of everything but he's by no means guilty of all the accusations either...which is fairly important to note.

you seriously got that from the statement. It seems like you're just looking to twist words. Saying "If you are known as someone who tells lies, then no one will believe you" is no where close to saying it's ok to tell lies as long as people believe you, unless as I said before you're looking to twist words.

I'm not twisting his words. I'm following through on his rationale.

According to Pat Robertson, it's wrong to tell lies because no one will believe you after a certain point.

By that rationale, it's OK to tell lies as long as people keep believing you.

i even said he admitted it where do you get the opinion i think he didn't do anything. The post you quoted I even said he admitted guilt to some things. but admission of guilt to one thing does not equal to admission or even guilt of all of the accusations, that's my only point. read my post and don't try to infer anything else beyond that. I have no idea what he's guilty of or what he admitted and neither do you. that's my point.

    how's this for a dodge?

"The Rev. Ted Haggard, who resigned as one of the nation's top evangelical leaders, admitted Friday he had contacted male prostitute Mike Jones for a massage and bought drugs from him.

Haggard said he never had sex with Jones and never used the methamphetamine drug he bought".

i believe that about as much as "i didn't inhale"
What are you trying to say? Don't you look for a hooker when you need a massage? Hell, doesn't everyone? And buying meth for him ... that's just one of those little favors that a compassionate Christian does out of the goodness of his heart! Poor guy, I don't know why everyone is picking on him .....

in yesterdays interview he never met the guy, didnt even know who he was.... never had a gay relationship, and has never done drugs of any kind....

today he knows him, bought meth from him on several occasions, and got a "massage" from him in a hotel room....

they were playing the voice mails he left on his gay hooker's phone, he sure does like that meth for a guy who never used it........

without a doubt he will be in rehab by this time tomorrow! mabey he can share a room with foley......

Actually... I don't care if this guy smokes crack and male prostitutes... that's his business.
The only thing that bothers me is his whole, say things you do not follow yourself. This guy has a lot of people following him... I find that sad.
    ...
This is why I don't believe in religion. Religion, to me, has nothing to do with God except to use Him as a product to sell.
It doesn't shake my belief in God or the teachings of Christ... it is just more proof that the church isn't in it for God's best interests... it exists in Man's best interest.

Where did I say that, or anything close to that?

Look, I'm an atheist, but many of the people I know and love are Christians. I don't have anything against Christians in general. I don't have anything against anyone of any faith believing whatever they want, as long as they're not running around telling everyone else they have to believe it too. Like the other people in this thread, I'm just enjoying the spectacle of this jackass getting knocked off his high horse.

"Members of Haggard's 14,000-member megachurch were stunned."
    ...
That's a lot of influence. If I felt that all of those people were like me... mis-trusting of leaders who claim to know the truth... when my logic tells me that no one really knows, we're all just guessing... then, maybe it isn't that big of a deal.
My guess... a lot of people believe in their religious leaders... until they are caught with their dicks in an alter boy's or male prostitute's butt. Their faith isn't shaken, but they still believe in the next guy to step up to the pulpit.
Maybe we should stop listening to Men and listen to God, for a change.

I'm not a democrat, although I'm certainly much closer to them than I am to the republicans. Speaking only for myself, if this happened to some pastor who had spent his life preaching tolerance for others ... that we all have our own crosses to bear and shouldn't be too quick to judge ... I would be most sympathetic. I'd think it was very sad that he felt the need to hide who he was, sad that he was in the grips of an addiction to a very nasty drug, and I'd hope that the public would show him some compassion, and that he'd find the help he needed and be able to put his life back together.

But that's not the type of pastor we're talking about here. We're talking about a man who wants to amend the United States Constitution (a document I hold in very high regard) to include discrimination ... for the first time, to use our constitution to TAKE RIGHTS AWAY from the people. The purpose of the constitution is to set limits on government, not on citizens. We're talking about a guy who raised money by preaching hatred. We're talking about a guy who railed against not only gays but HYPOCRITES in his sermons!

I don't care that the guy had gay sex, I don't even care that he was a crankhead ... it's his life. But if you're going to run around telling others how to live, your own life better be pretty much beyond reproach. You'd think an ordained minister would have read what Jesus had to say about casting the first stone.

I agree. But I believe the context with which this thread was started was to somehow belittle Christians. I myslef am not a religious person, but they have every right to live their life as they see to it, as you said.

Other than that, I believe this to be just another newsstory. If he has done wrong, he should be punished for it. And, as you said, don't 'tread on me.' =)

"Mr. congregation of 30 million fools" is a pretty raw statement to me. A "hypocritical' one if you will.

Oh, he's being punished alright. Can you imagine what it must be like to be this guy right now?!

I don't see this thread as belittling Christians. It certainly belittles self-righteous hypocrites though, and I don't have any problem with that.

The "30 million fools" refers to people who eat up this guy's brand of hatred every day for breakfast. I don't think anyone here believes that applies to all Christians.

i started this post, so i might be qualified to tell you what it is about....
there are more than 30 million Christians..... this one snake oil salesman has a congregation of 30 million followers... it says so right in the articles i posted links to. fools? yes, these are people who followed a man who became a multimillionaire off of their hate. i have already posted that i KNOW this guy is not a christian, he is a businessman. he sells hate, homophobia, fear, ignorance and hell insurance. for people to follow and give 10 percent of everything they have to this jerk-off, of course they are fools. not one of those multimillionaire evangelists believe in god, they only believe in separating fools from their money. how dare this man attempt to write hatred and bigotry into our constitution, and not for something he even believes in,, JUST FOR THE MONEY HIS FLOCK GAVE HIM for taking such a intolerable view. I guarantee you he got very rich from his hateful 30 million bigots for being so outspoken against gay marriage. i have also stated that i dont care if he fucks gay whores or smokes crank.... i am more offended by his fake persona than i am his actual life. at least buttfucking his gay whore while snorting crank does not effect the lives of thousands of people who just want to express LOVE for one another.... and it does not make a mockery of everything this country stands for by using MY constitution to limit MY rights..... fuck this asshole for SELLING OUR CONSTITUTION for his personal monitary gain...... a friend of george w. bush indeed!

Just for clarification ... 30 million Christians, or 30 million evangelical Christians, or 30 million viewers of this guy when he's on tv? Because this guy certainly does NOT represent all of Christianity.

My husband is a devout Christian, and he's laughing right along with me at the sight of this jackass going down. The pastor who married us is gay, and I think you'd like most of the members of his congregation. I'm not a believer myself, but these are good people, and I know they're not the only Christians who are tolerant and compassionate.

That's all ... I agree with everything you've posted otherwise, I just wanted to clarify that one point.
