Let me ask a very simple question:

If the purpose of such manipulation is to get Republicans elected which in turn equals more profit, why not just manipulate more profit????????

    power trumps profit, perhaps?

Except that the races end, you know?

How cloak and dagger of you.

na your not paying attention.. its just a short term goal - that benefits the bulk of buisnesses.. to the point where a surge may be profitable..

    again - a trend - not a conspiracy

gure manipulation is usually for profit .. they try to influence it down before buying and up before selling.. people are arrested for that often - and more often investigated - very difficult to prove

If it serve the majority of businesses for the GOP to maintain control - and an upward trend in the dow has an effect on the voting public - especially the way the GOP will spin in the upcomming weeks - why not wonder if there are not a large number of influencial businessmen -making overly optomistic bullish statements and even bullish purchaces in an attempt to lead the lemmings...

much like a campaign contribution - perhaps more effective - and this a very important election
  • Maybe the stock market is going up in anticipation of a democrat victory. Historically the stock market does better under democrat presidents.

Perhaps.........or perhaps it's a reverse ploy by the Democrats. See, they're manipulating the market so that Republicans get elected and they won't have to deal with the Iraq mess.......or perhaps the Skull & Bones is just having some fun.........or perhaps the tooth fairy ran out of nickles and needs her Halliburton shares to go up some more..........

So in other words it makes "long term" sense to artificially raise the stock market in order to get Republicans elected tomorrow? So what happens when it all falls apart the next day?

Not that this matters, but can you cite one specific instance of one specific stock purchase using to manipulate the market for Republicans?

I think the corrput big business cronies (both democrtats and republicans....mostly republicans :) ) have learned to skim the assets of the companies they control, so they don't need to manipulate stock prices anymore.

If you can't change the price of the stock, loot the assets instead, and leave the smaller stock investor/pension plans to foot the bill!

If it falls apart the next day, they still have 2 years to fix it!

I think the market is used to that news. But who cares? I'm sure Ford can just manipulate themselves a few billion and this will take care of that.

  • Thats what Enron did.

First, Enron did not mainpulate the entire stock market. Secondly, since their mainpulations worked out so well, I'm quite sure everyone will follow suit
