NMyTree wrote:But, in an interview with a few Hizbullah fighters, they stated (and made it perfectly clear) they would NOT agree to a cease-fire, even if Israel stopped their attacks.
That statement was followed by one Hizbullah fighter plainly stating that there will be consequences for the Political Branch agreeing to a cease-fire.
The figher clearly stated Hizbullah fighters will eliminate those of the Political Branch, who they (the Hizbullah fighters) feel betrayed them, by agreeing to a cease-fire. Which means they will attempt (and probably succeed) in killing those of the Political Branch who agreed to a cease-fire.
One hezbollah fighter, sorry NMytree, i don't know the opinion of every Hezbollah "fighter", but i know the officials said they'd agree, so who to believe? At least the officials agree, if they try nothing they'll get nothing... or just more bomb. Yes the civil war now is a concern to and that's why discussion plan must be set up to stop the Hezbollah, not making them stronger, but now they at least need to clean the mess done so far and evacuate civillians from the southern war zone, i just don't buy those leaflets or "hugging" thing, get them out then bomb each other to death if that's what they want.
Damn if only they'd go back to swords and horses or even to the baillonette (row front kneed down, FIRE!), those stupid greedy powerful leader pushing on a button without ever facing the consequence wouldn't have the means to kill all these innocents..."L'homme est né libre, et partout il est dans les fers"

they want a cease fire now huh? really? hmmm... I believe that! SO THEY CAN REARM!
I guess the wonderful hezbollah leader forgot the last u.n. worthless resolution that required hezbollah disarm.
oh, but he wants a cease fire.
I guess you chose to forget the 60 U.N resolutions which Israel are currently in breach of? But then you've already admitted that you have no regard for international law and that you support Israeli terrorism, so it's no surprise.0 -

they've read one those leaflets on tv, it was more of a menace and they were all laughing at the thing, although the citizen who got a phone call (palestine) to say that their building was about to be bombed said it was a better way and no civillians were killed in that raid... mmmm. My personal belief is that there are racial prejudices at work on both sides of this particular fence, so I agree ... Still, though, these racial arguments are actually getting pretty tiring, from BOTH sides.0 -

it's not racial to comment on events, it's not because they're Israelis or jews, it's because of what they're doing, i couldn't care less if they're africans (threads about Rwanda and Darfur are always sinking fast on this board), Haitians (threads about Haiti are always sinking fast on this board), south americans, arabs or jews i don't care. If Hezbollah would launch a targeted missiles killing 30 (i don't know what's the count) kids, then i'd be in flame in threads condeming those acts..."L'homme est né libre, et partout il est dans les fers"

Actually, it was a few Hizbullah fighters in that interview. Certainly, we can't assume every Hizbullah fighter is thinking the same way. But their statements give us to some insight to their motives and goals.
I also get the impression, not only by the interviews, but from news reports and articles I read and watched regarding Hizbullah; that the Political Branch are no more than figureheads/puppets for the fighters on the ground. I believe they have a chain of command and they dictate what they want from the Political Branch.
Maybe I'm wrong about this, but it is the impression I have been getting.0 -

You raise some good points, here ... I wonder WHY Darfur and other atrocities get almost no play on here, but Israel causes some of the most bitter debates?0 -

Ignorance maybe? Do you seriously think it's racial? What you're talking about is biased, not racial. Racial would be about giving an opinion, not commenting on events.
If you were aiming at me you should clearly start now to search for Haiti or Rwanda thread, look who start them, are you racist because you haven't start a thread about Rwanda? I don't believe that's what is call racism, just ignorance or people are just not interested, which is also possible..."L'homme est né libre, et partout il est dans les fers"

I don't know much about it, it seem like there's a chief, and he decide, political branch should dissociate themselves from the violent hezbollah..."L'homme est né libre, et partout il est dans les fers"

No, I don't think the major focus on Israel is a racial bias, at least not an obvious one. I think some of this does creep into some people's comments about the situation, but no, I don't think Israel is a popular target because everyone on here hates Jews. I think Israel's association with AMERICA makes it a popular target on here, quite frankly. If Israel was someone else's ally, I wager you'd hear nary a peep.0 -

And no, I wasn't aiming that at you. You actually strike me as one of the more balanced commentators on here lately.0
