Just because the methods we employ are not as severe or brutal doesn't make them right.
How dare we flush a Koran down the toilet! Seriously though, the U.S. should not condone torture in 99% of all cases. We should treat our prisoners humanely.
However, there are certain times when torturing the shit out of somebody is the way to go. For instance, we catch a man trying to blow himself up in a shopping mall, etc, but his explosive belt malfunctions. We should torture the absolute shit out of that fucker if he doesn't want to talk, as to find out if he is working with anybody else. I say sure, torture is a terrible thing, but so is blowing up innocent civillians. If this guy didn't want to be tortured, he should have thought about that before trying to go kill a bunch of women and children. So there is a hypothetical.
I'm not trying to speak for Binaural, but it pisses me off when Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo are shoved down our throats, while our enemies do shit like this. On the whole, the U.S. does not torture its prisoners. Sure, there are probably some that get tortured, but there are reasons for it - we just don't snatch random prisoners and torture them and publicize it as to demoralize our enemies or spread fear. We do it to gather intel, and we try to keep it behind closed doors.
Look, I don't think torture is right by no means - but I think it is justified in certain cases - a SMALL amount of cases. It's wrong to kill, but if somebody was going to murder my family, I would blow their head off to save my families lives - ya know??? That's where I'm coming from.
Seriously, with the media we have - most around the world would say that the US is more evil than the religious fanatics we are fighting.... that is why pisses me off with respect to torture!
Yes our enemies torture and behead prisoners but are enemies are also savages. We should never compare or justify our actions based on what our enemies do. Even if we tortured one prisoner or a thousand prisoners it is still wrong. We are a civilized nation not an organization of backward thinking savages and the moment we decided that torture was acceptable we loose what is most important to us and what seperates us from jihadist, our humanity.
Have you seen the american handbook of torture, yeah know, for a good comparision of which tea party is the best?
---
From what we know, america locks up people without trial. people have died in the hands of the americans while detained (what, from soft back rubs you think?) and also sends prisoners to places that do al quieda style torture.
oooo yes, tea party.
If you were fighting in Iraq and were captured, what chances (%) do you think you would stand of being tortured by the other side?
1. An average run-of-the-mill Jihadist in Iraq
2. An average run-of-the-mill solider in the US Army
It's O.K. to shoot someone in the knee, because shooting them in the stomach is worse.
It's O.K. to shoot someone in the stomach, because shooting them in the groin is worse.
It's O.K. to shoot someone in the groin, because shooting them in the head is worse.
It's O.K. to shoot someone in the head, because shooting two people in the head is worse.
does that make me good ?
thank god(sic) for dahmer

In both Iraq wars, wounded and captured US soldiers have been given the best of medical treatment from their Iraqi captors. That's a fact.

And then there are others... Look at these journalist who have been captured and killed in Iraq. They weren't even soldiers. What do you have to say about that?

I would'nt go to iraq to fight. I would not put myself in that position.

And living in Florida I probably have a greater chance of being hurt by your avg run of the mill red neck than by the avg run of the mill muslim. (in the US)

I'm NOT trying to condone it. Pay attention to my arguement. It pisses me off that 90% of our soldiers who are captured are either tortured or killed, and that get's about 10% of the media's attention. On the other hand, about 10% of enemy soldiers get tortured by the US, but that gets 90% of the media's attention. Do you get it????
No, Al Qaeda claimed responsiblilty for the capture.
Fuel your own hatred. I don't give a fuck. If you want to be an armchair warrior for the rest of your life posting on message boards the BS you copy from other writer's articles while playing them off as your own thoughts, be my guest. You're as thought-provoking as dandruff, and not worth any more of time. Good day.

Yea, US troops get captured while invading and raping someone elses land. it's not like these "jihadist" are running around the US grabbing american soldiers and running blades across their necks.
You've posted 2,558 times in (12.89 posts per day) in 7 months and you want to call ME an armchair general, as if you're less passionate about your on beliefs? Speaking of your time, again 2,559 posts in 7 months...

Maybe more of the focus is placed on our actions because we are supposed to be better that the terrorist. We are not supposed to act as they act and do as they do. Like I stated early the jihadist are savage animals. As horrible as their actions are it is what is expected of them., but from us I would expect more.

I'm reminded of a line in Reservoir Dogs:

But, to your point, the reason our soldiers get more attention when they commit crimes is because they are our soldiers. They're the only ones we can do anything about.
Well, not exactly, I guess. Had we never invaded Iraq, we could then have pre-emptively stopped the enemy from capturing, torturing, and killing our soldiers. We could also pre-emptively stop this from happening to our soldiers in the future if we, say, leave Iraq. 'Nother thread, though.

I'm just wondering why you excluded men. Is it that women are more valuable, or are men more likely to survive an explosion, or what?
Secondly, is it ok to torture the man's wife or children to find out who he is working for?
