i know a lot of hot chicks with butt ugly parents and vice versa. Our gene pool seems too varied to separate attractive genes from bad without some kind of genetic engineering.

i'm not so sure. Many morons have plenty of kids and most of them survive to become adult morons who have plenty of kids and so on.

Meanwhile many intelligent people have one or two kids if that. And if a freak accident happens and their one kid is killed, there goes their genes down the toilet.

The human race will one day split into two separate species, an attractive, intelligent ruling elite and an underclass of dim-witted, ugly goblin-like creatures, according to a top scientist.

The alarming prediction comes from evolutionary theorist Oliver Curry from the London School of Economics, who says that the human race will have reached its physical peak by the year 3000.

These humans will be between 6ft and 7ft tall and they will live up to 120 years.

"Physical features will be driven by indicators of health, youth and fertility that men and women have evolved to look for in potential mates," says the report, which suggests that advances in cosmetic surgery and other body modifying techniques will effectively homogenise our appearance.

Men will have symmetrical facial features, deeper voices and bigger penises, according to Curry in a report commissioned for men's satellite TV channel Bravo.

Women will all have glossy hair, smooth hairless skin, large eyes and pert breasts, according to Curry.

Racial differences will be a thing of the past as interbreeding produces a single coffee-coloured skin tone.

You also should not discount the phenomena of "What the rich do and look like is by definition beautiful, and the measuring rod for the rest of us".

A few quick examples of this is as follws:
1. Couple 100 years ago, fat was beautiful. Because you had to be rich to be fat. Since fat was a sign of prosperity, it was beutiful.
2. Not too long ago, having a tan was a mark of lower class. Because if you have a tan, means you work outside all day, means you're poor. Being white as a sheet was reserved the rich who could sit in their houses all day and not getting any distasteful colour.

Beauty is a very changing and fad-run thing that changes all the time. A general trend though, is that the things that signify prosperity, are the things that are deemed beautiful. Read up on Bourdieu for an analysis of how the upper classes define these things, or for that matter look into Veblen's theories on "conspicious consumption".

I'm not disagreeing with you, just fleshing it out.

(edit) oh by the way, the original article is mostly crap. Exactly the way one should NOT think about evolution etc.

For starters, the more body mass you have the shorter your lifespan is. So tall people with long lifespans becoming the norm is a bit off.

and if they live to be 120 year old... i think they will need to raise the retirement age to about 105... otherwise, Social Security will be in REAL trouble.
