The only "kevlar helmet" I've had on my head was the one I used on your girl.

    ;)

If I hadnt seen a photo of you before I might have been offended by that.
  • I would've tortured the hell out of that dog. He was obviously an enemy combatant. I would've made him bark until he told me all of the names - until all of his claws were ripped out and all four of his legs wouldn't work.

    Hahahahahaha.

    Ha.

This is a fucking war and you guys are complaining about some boys throwing rocks at a dog.

This is just another goddamn indication of how America has become a nation of big ole' fashioned pussies. Back in the old days, stupid shit like this would have been of no consequence - the big picture was "are we winning the war?" Everybody knew that soldiers would do immature things - that's what happens when you allow 18 year old boys to enlist.

But you know what? I'd prefer an America of winners to an America of pussies.

let me tell ya something pal...ive been in fire and ems for twenty + years and ive seen some sick shit that people do to other people..but i dont kick the dog when i leave a house where someone has just murdered their child...i go home and hug my dog....and i try to turn the other cheek because this is the nature of the beast...as in war also...people are there to harm other people...not goddamned innocent animals...my families roots go back to around 1760 in this country ...and someone from my family has been in every war this coutry has been in....i have a picture on my desk of my grandfather in the phillipines during ww2....sitting next to a dog that the troops "adopted" for companionship...not to throw rocks at and abuse.... so by saying this country has just become pussified is just showing your ignorance...(although i will have to agree we've gone soft when we do shit like take dodge ball and the like out of schools...but thats another story)...there is NO GODDAMNED PLACE FOR CRAP LIKE THIS ANIMAL ABUSE THAT IS SHOWN ON THIS TAPE.

The debate moved in that direction so don't make it sound like I just brought it up, I even said in an earlier post about how "this is for another thread" or something like that.

and yes, some, maybe even many may not of wanted to go, but they still went, I mean we are talking about life and death here, it's serious. what exacty is the grey area? No troops willing to fight this unjust war means No war, the troops had the power to not allow the war to happen. not the millions marching, that was done just so we could make ourselves feel better.

Yes I blame the troops and the politicians.

Most soldiers don't sign up because they want to fight in an unjust war...just like I didn't choose to be born in America and be forced to pay the taxes that fund the war. The soldiers wouldn't even be there if we weren't funding their leaders enough to have the choice of sending them in the first place. To point at soldiers and place more blame on them than anyone else is rediculous. There's a flipside to that coin.

And the gray area is 2-fold. First, there's the fact that these soldiers will be tried as criminals if they choose not to go, and the fact that those of us who choose not to pay taxes to fund the war will go to jail and be in debt for the rest of our lives to the IRS. And second, there's the fact that the war is not completely unjust. A brutal dictator has been ousted, and the Iraqi people have made huge advances towards governing themselves with a legit regime (despite enormous opposition from the U.S.).

What use is a military that is not trained to kill people?

Are you just saying that you oppose all militaries?

    Wow, great point.

No.. My post didn't say anything about training a military to kill people..

Its about sending them to kill people ... kill people for some gain we are not allowed to know - Kill people that our nation collectively cultivates false hatred for... that false hatred seems to be contageous - or perhaps already resides in many.

Our soldies sit around watching a nation in absolute desperation.. and see its people dying as some sort of expendable political asset.

The Dog - well he was something of comic relief - the same pathetic kind of injured helpless freightened creature as the Iraq - but a different species - not sure if we consider them lower than the people of Iraqi - but somehow different than ourselves and somehow we are more allowed to giggle at their suffering - at least when the camera is rolling.

In answer to your question, I am all for having a trained military - it is necessary to protect our communities - but once it gets powerful - it seems people are eager to use it for various other purposes.

yeah, because being in "fire and ems" is exactly like combat. so what, you have a quasi-dangerous job. i can see how that makes you qualified to pass judgement on people who are being hunted down every second of every day. oh and you see some dead bodies? how traumatizing. what if it was your best friend that just got killed next to you.

I think they should've put that dog out of its misery. It looked to be in a lot of pain.

For every dog that gets pelted with a rock, there are probably a thousand that get an MRE and a scratch on the belly.

I would have cut the dog up with my bowie knife and used its blood for face paint.

Hahahaha, you animal lovers. That poor dog!!! Nevermind the fact that those soldiers are seeing their friends be dismembered limb by limb from roadside bombs! Surely they should be more sensitive!

Until you see what it's like to have to live in a war zone, maybe you should be more understanding. Those boys are used to far worse pain than seeing a stupid animal suffer.

Oh boohoo for the soldiers and their dismembered friends. They chose to be in the army, what did they think it was going to be, a walk in the park?

Being in the army doesn't excuse their behavior. Be more understanding? When they start acting like human beings instead of animals, I'll understand.

I just think human beings are never as innocent as their animal friends...
And I don't justify the killing of innocent people, I just think that people know what to expect from war. People get killed by other people, and thus by equal beings.
Animals, on the other hand get slaughtered for fun..., by so called 'higher' beings...

It's an ethical dilemma and I don't justify any of this, but the civilian killings are mostly orders, no?? Orders can be disobeyed...
Killing for fun... well, that's just brutal, deviant behaviour

I think, for the most part, people DO sympathise with the soldiers over in Iraq. It's just that videos like these make me wonder if these soldiers (just these soldiers, not all soldiers) deserve that sympathy.

since the news broadcasted the footage of some GI's setting a village on fire in Vietnam, the US army censored journalists.
They make certain journalists go through a training process to get them to show what THEY want. Like this, only the US's good side gets in the news...
Not the brutal killings of civilians, dogs, cats, whatever ...

I can't remember what this project is called though...

Embedded journalists don't go through any special training to film certain things or not. They learn what to do in emergencies and how to stay out of our way.
