If you want to lose respect for politicians for doing the right thing politically even if it is morally wrong, then you should have no respect for any of these congressmen who gave Bush the yes vote on using military force in Iraq. Everyone did it because they knew that after 9/11 no political campaign could be sustained by a candidate who wasn't with the war effort and that was wrong.

i appreciate the "not trying to be a dickhead" warning. so i will use your phrase/warning. i am not trying to be a dickhead and i can say i lost all respect for bill when he said, "i did not inhale".

at the time, i looked at it this way. he was hanging out with his buddies, they passed him the smoke, he pretended to inhale so he would not look foolish amongst his peers.

i have no respect for that trait in a person. if he were with his "enemies" then sure, it would be a wise decision to "pretend" to inhale. not with your friends though.

i also acknowledge that i do not know all the facts.

and you don't think obama would say anything, either? odd, when the war had support obama was pretty hawkish saying we needed to have a permanent presence in iraq to let "iran and syria know we're serious" then when public opinion changed so did his rhetoric

and what about that slumlord hillary brought up a few weeks ago??? obama claimed the only dealing he had w/ the guy was a case he worked on w/ several other lawyers...then it comes out obama bought his house from him or his wife for a good bit under market value and had other dealings!

and i didn't like his talk about health care saying "if a child doesn't have insurance under my plan it's b/c their parents were irresponsible" why not just cover children regardless??
