i keep hearing how most of obama's money comes from small donations, the average person giving $20 or so dollars....

according to the site below 55% are donations of over $200

    The differences are astounding.

Obama is getting massive dollars in contributions from corporations and institutions. More even than McCain.

**Side note: I like that Kucinich received $4,450 from Larry Flynt Publications. I know Larry Flynt is big on the 1st Amendment, but seeing his name still makes me giggle. :p

    you know, i've got experience
    looking right past the obvious
and i know what is so big and so close
    is always the hardest stuff

    the hardest stuff to know

When Obama gets donations from corporations it makes him corporate. When Paul gets them from white supremacists -- "ya gotta take it where you can get it."
I cannot come up with a new sig till I get this egg off my face.

and when obama takes all that money and then favors them w/ his support it's a huge conflict of interest not to mention pandering

where did i say anything about ron paul taking money from white supremacists? i think you replied to the wrong thread?

Because we've all seen how Ron Paul has shaped his support around the money he supposedly gets from white supremacists and we have all seen evidence of this during his time in office, oh wait....

I replied to the right thread. There was a Paul taking money from a white supremacist thread a while back. The general tone was that it was OK..."gotta take the money from where you can get it." I replied having no recollection of your position on it (if you had one). Just the general tone what a hypocrite Obama is as opposed to Ron Paul.

for one thing ron paul didn't campaign for at least a year as not dealing w/ lobbyists, not taking their money, 'won't give them a job in his white house!!!' oppps i mean 'won't dominate his white house'....

also, i haven't seen any evidence of ron paul being bought by white supremacists

Extremely faaaar behind Goldman Sachs. I wonder who Obama will be the most concerned about working for? Hmmm, such a toughie.

Thank God. I was worried he wouldn't be able to make it through the General on only small donations. Now that I see he has ample funding on top of the record breaking small donations, I feel a little better.

honestly...while you try to rip apart a decent man, our country will probably elect another republican and continue on its war mongering ways.

    take a step back...get a little perspective....

have you thought about what you are trying to accomplish? maybe get nader up to 2%...lol
and when McCain wins by 1%, will you feel like you changed the world?

i would say Obama will change the world a hell of a lot more then McCain...

wouldn't you? or do you honestly think anti-obama threads are gonna promote positive change in some way?

i guess...what i am asking is...who is your second choice for president, if say...something crazy happens and Nader doesnt win?

no offense, but you may want to take an extra math class or 2, or a statistics lesson or 2...

if you break it down by the # of actual contributions, which is what they are talking about when they speak about the amount of small contributions, then it shows they are absolutely correct... it isnt Obama fault $2000 donations add up quicker then $20 donations...

here i took the amount raised and divided it by the lesser amount in that bracket... check out what i found

    $200-499 - $12,920,436 (divided by $200 = 64,602 donations)
    $500-999 - $16,076,998 (divided by $500 = 32,153 donations)
    $1,000-2,300 - $36,527,004 (divided by $1000 = 36,527 donations)
    $2,300+ - $65,899,047 (divided by $2,300 = 28,651 donations)
    $4,600+ - $11,148,741 (divided by $4600 = 2423 donations)

so as you can clearly see, the largest amount of donations have come in the form of small donations, by far.

In other words, there are more contributors of less then $500 then all of the contributors above $1,000 COMBINED

    thread over, please close it.
