    1. if you know about the 10 years thing, please let me know: as i've written i work on the field, as a researcher, and i've never heard a 10 years estimate.
Anyway, it is not that because he studied and understands science that he's an environmentalist: in my department the majority of people are not environmetalists...

Here's another reference to the 10 years thing.

Its seems to reference this report, but I couldn't find from the report where they came up with 10 years.

ask the dinosaurs, she'll just say "okay, fuck it" and start over.

Is there a problem with that?

    No

One point that is also worth making is that although volcanoes release some CO2 into the atmosphere, this is completely negligable compared to anthropogenic emissions (about 0.15 Gt/year of carbon, compared to about 7 Gt/year of human related sources) .

Thanks for the link. I'm a bit apprehensive about quoting the 10 years thing myself because although it does highlight the urgency of the problem, it does sound a bit alarmist especially if they are off base even slightly or it doesn't become apparent for a while longer, it will give the skeptics only more reason to point at the failures of climate data and thus deflect from the problem itself which is very real.
