Hey Abook -- why do you answer questions directed specifically at El Kabong? Can you just not help it or something? I'm not talking about discussing a subject simultaneously, I'm talking about literally answering questions for him, directed at him. You do it fairly often.0

Because I was logged in and could easily address your post. I'll also do this when he leaves for work...if I know the answer to a question posed to him then I'll answer. I mean why not if he's not at a computer and I know his thoughts on the matter? Why would there be a problem with it is what I don't get? And I also I disagree with your assessment that I do it fairly often...I do it every now and again would be much more accurate. If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Edit ---> I already explained this to El Kabong. I thought he was answering my post to him, forgetting you answer posts directed to him as well. Sorry.
I read that post and still thought your reply needed to be addressed regardless of whom you quoted.
It was a silly reply that made no sense....so I said so. I don't care who you were talking to...I still posted my thoughts on it.If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Why is it so strange? Do enlighten me. I don't get how answering a question I know the answer to when someone else can't at the moment is so mind blowing to you.If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Oh yeah, what did you like about Joe Biden again? I still don't remember seeing anything about him that explains his greatness.
Did you get a chance to look at his voting record?
I mean, how do you define a politician's "greatness"?
What I like about him is his realistic approach to the mess in Iraq/Iran/the Middle East (and his overall views and experience in foreign relations), his past and current views on environmental issues, gun control, education, etc.
What I like about him IMO he is more "realistic" and practical on his approach to issues. He might not be as dare I say it "liberal" as I'd like him to be on some issues...but that could actually be a good thing.0 -

I've been saying this for months. haven't hopped on the train in a while, but this thread pulled me back in. at least for a minute.

Sure, I've seen it but that doesn't tell me what you like about it.mca47 wrote:I mean, how do you define a politician's "greatness"?
It's subjective. What I view as great about someone, you might not. I kept seeing a lot of people say he is great but I didn't see any reasons given as to why they thought so.mca47 wrote:What I like about him is his realistic approach to the mess in Iraq/Iran/the Middle East (and his overall views and experience in foreign relations), his past and current views on environmental issues, gun control, education, etc.

How is his approach a 'realistic one? This sounds kinda vague. What has he said or did that makes his approach realistic to you?
And you say that it could be a good thing that he leans more right than what you would like him to be??? So you're saying that you don't want him to effect policy in ways that better reflect your own views but rather you want him to simply win whether or not he is the type of politician that will push for things you'd like to see happen in the whitehouse.
What if too many people are doing just what you are then? Supporting a guy they think everyone else will go far and ignoring what they really would like to see in a politician? The people's stances on the issues have been consistently polling to the left of our elected officials(which are pandering to special interests). So it seems like we all are sacrificing what we'd really like to see happen and settling for mediocre because we all seem to feel that the only electable choice.....and it's not. We can vote for whom ever we choose. That's democracy. And media is fooling people out of realizing this by telling everyone what choices are suitable. If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

He's the only one who has basically put it all on the table. He's said exactly what he wants and should be done in that region.
I, unlike yourself and others, believe that pulling everyone out of Iraq all at once and instantly is a bad idea.

I admit, I consider myself to be quite liberal. There are certain issues I tend to lean more right on but for the most part I'm left of center on most issues.
Is it not possible to realize that someone's views other than my own might benefit the greater whole more than just myself? I can sit here and talk about an ideal world from my perspective, but is that really the best way to see it? I think anyone who has views on either extreme of the political spectrum can be scary. Biden, IMO is liberal but also has some more centrist views (like myself), and if some of those are more right than mine that's fine because when I look at him I can see how I would selfishly benefit (as we have similar views) but I can also see how others would benefit from his more centrist views.

Well, that's not the case. I like what I see in Biden...well I mentioned it above...0 -

This thread is a joke. A person states they like Joe Biden and all of a sudden you got Abook and the bonger givin' 'em the old one two about "what do you like about him, blah, blah, you can't be specific, blah, blah", knowing damn well whatever the poster responds with won't be good enough. Why does it matter anyway? I've got a suggestion. How about you go out and cast your "i'm like really, really cool, and like, all alternative and stuff so i suppoort Ralph Nader" vote, let everyone else make up their own mind, for whatever reason they see fit, and let it be. For two people who constantly accuse people of telling them who to vote for, Abook and the bonger are the worst at doing just that! Vote for who you want. Let everyone else do the same."When all your friends and sedatives mean well but make it worse... better find yourself a place to level out."0

So are mine. So are a lot of other people's who no doubt disagree with both of us. That's the rub. Many people, many views about what is best."When all your friends and sedatives mean well but make it worse... better find yourself a place to level out."0 -

This board is for discussion/debate. It's not like you don't ask people to back up what they are saying when you disagree with them or when you want more clarification. yourself....you get in heated arguments all the time over someone's opinion. This board has never been about everyone agreeing or just ignoring people we don't agree with...so you Obama supporters that think the board dynamics suddenly changed when you don't want to be asked questions is pretty laughable.
If they don't want to say why they like Biden, then they are free to say just that or not even reply to my question. It might appear that they don't have a good reason to others but that's on them. I can't force them to answer anything. All I can do is ask the questions that I'm curious about...is that okay with you, cornnifer? Does that fit into your view of how the board is supposed to be?
I want to further the political discourse we are currently used to....I see faaaaar too many people say they support someone and never have a clue as to why really. This is not good for our democracy.....we NEED informed voters who are aware of the kind of person/issues they are voting for. So I will continue to ask these kinds of questions as long as I continue to see people saying how great someone is without even telling us why. We desperately need to start having these discussions. mca47 answered me and though I may disagree with his position at least he bothered to explain it...that is all I'm looking for....for people to have some kind of rational points behind their support for these candidates. If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.
