this is the really major one, i will the some others later.

"The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way -- all of them who have tried to secularize America -- I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen.'" --on the 9/11 attacks

i apologize in advance. i NEVER thought i would have to turn to the mods, but i am going to ask them to close this thread. a minority of folks have been classless and disgusting. i guess i expect more out of my fellow pearl jam fans, but they are giving us a bad name, and giving the MT a bad name.

Are there religious folk who really felt this guy represented them thougH?

I'd like to know that. I mean...is there anyone who really was like "This guy has got it right!"???

I bet that meeting with God was quite interesting though.....God was probably like...."Jerry...Jerry....Jerry.....We need to have a LONG talk buddy...."

This guy had a huge congregation and though I'm not an expert in Falwell (wouldn't waste my time on him) I believe he had his own University of some 15,000 students (?).

He had a huge following and he helped get G.W. elected...

Kerry and Gore had big followings that helped get Bush elected. Do we celebrate when they die as well?

he founded a school, Liberty University, and there are a lot of students down there, but trust me not all of them buy into everything he says (usually they don't buy into the extreme stuff he preached...obviously some people did and do)

and also let's present both sides of his 9-11 statement, we've heard the blame...

I apologize for my September 13 comments because they were a complete misstatement of what I believe and what I've preached for nearly 50 years," he said. "Namely, I do not believe that any mortal knows when God is judging or not judging someone or a nation. ... It was a pure misstatement, unintentional, and I apologize for it uncategorically."

"My misstatement included assuming that I or any mortal would know when God is judging or not judging a nation," he said. "Therefore I don't know if God was judging America in 1941 or 1812 or on September 11, 2001."

  • I'm supposed to show respect for this guy just because he's dead? No. Fuck that. This asshole spent his whole life condemning things he deemed "immoral" and "wrong", personally offending me and insulting particular members of my family in his gay bashing. He wants to go off on rants about how AIDS is just a little reminder from god that you shouldnt be gay. That attacks on america are just a little reminder that gays shouldnt be tolerated. (And it's not just that one comment about 9/11 chopitdown, so his "apology" doenst mean shit.) Guess I'm supposed to be saddened and upset when Fred Phelps finally dies too, hmm? I respect the dead that had lived a respectably life. So what. You're fucking dead. You don't earn a free pass from me.

So glad to see you have overcome them.
    Completely silent now
    With heaven's help
    You cast your demons out
And not to pull your halo down
Around your neck and tug you off your cloud
But I'm more than just a little curious
How you're planning to go about
Making your amends to the dead
    To the dead

    Recall the deeds as if
    They're all someone else's
    Atrocious stories
Now you stand reborn before us all
So glad to see you well

And not to pull your halo down
Around your neck and tug you to the ground
But I'm more than just a little curious
How you're planning to go about
Making your amends to the dead
    To the dead

    With your halo slipping down
    Your halo slipping
    Your halo slipping down
    Your halo slipping down
    Your halo slipping down

Your halo slipping down to choke you now

lots of un-enlightened folks that supported this turd and everything he represents.

As to not slamming him cause he's dead....rubbish....didn't see you folks speaking fondly of Sadaam when he was executed. WTF.

I just hope he doesn't have someone in the wings that will carry on his irrational hate. I'm hoping the generation of the god fearing, homo hating white male is dying off....
