  • I am not a republican or democrat, but I agree with him completely.
    Nathan
  • Agree or disagree, I think McCain would *love* for this to be an Obama commercial.

The support of Hollywood celebrities have been real good for Democrats so far. Oh wait ...

i believe that was debunked on the mainstream media the other day, of all places.

They actually called up the guy who wrote all that stuff.
He admitted point blank that he just made it all up.

If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

He asked if it was true, making the point that we don't know anything about her. He didn't say she believed this.. I think not knowing her was the point of the whole video.

Good way to cop out and not address the points he brought up-which were really good I think.

    this isn't celebrity double speak

Matt Damon was reading Howard Zinn when he was 10 years old - he was his neighbour - he's also financially backing The People Speak

I just heard him speak at the TIFF during a preview of the movie - he's got a very educated point of view and not only do I enjoy listening to what he has to say - I agree with him

No one said it's important, but the fact is that many of them make good points.

I love how all "bloggers" are thrown into one category, as if professors, doctors, analysts, etc, don't have blogs.
  • Matt Damon is a great actor and is a great voice for many of us, just like a certain baritone singer.

I wish musicians and actors would just shut up about politics, I rather enjoyed the Bourne Trilogy and Good Will Hunting, in fact Damon is one of the few actors that I am a fan of. I become less of a fan when they whine and cry about politics.
  • digsterdigster Posts: 1,293
I fail to understand how it is whining and crying. If Matt Damon or anyone is asked a question, should they not state their opinion? "Sorry, you know, I would answer any questions you have about politics, but as it turns out I'm a celebrity. Don't want people getting any ideas that I might actually think about things."

If someone asked me my political opinions, I'd state them. Why would I expect something different of Damon? There's a difference between this and the Streisands of the world, there's no doubt, but if you think he's asked he shouldn't answer.

Why do they have any less of a right than 'everyday' citizens? I think Damon made a very clear and sensible comment - people don't really know who she is.

I'd love to hear what dinosaurs have to do with nuclear codes...please tell?

Peope are just plain stupid...for all the open-minded talk, people are sure willing to dismiss other people's views as crazy, despite not really being able to prove them wrong, since NO ONE knows. Remember, they once thought the world was flat.

Go ahead and try...I bet it ends with "Death to Israeli Occupation". ;)

Seriously, when dealing with nukes, who cares what someone thinks about dinosaurs and whether or not they wear lipstick. It's all a distraction.

People who believe dinosaurs existed 4,000 years ago tend to hold a dispensationalist world view. A cornerstone of that view is that the Rapture will occur in the very near future, making the preservation of the earth a tertiary concern at best. People who believe they've nothing to lose are more likely to "pull the trigger." Add a belief that you are doing God's work, that our wars are guided by God's hand, and you have one dangerous finger on the button.

Of course, she might not actually believe any of that. She might just be trying to get the votes of people who do, and once in office she'll be Mrs. Rational Rock.

But can we really take that chance? ;)

Even though his opinion is only being recorded and noticed because he is an actor, it doesn't make it invalid.

I feel as he does about this vice-presidential pick. It was made to help McCain's campaign but it was NOT made with the country's best interests in mind. No one in their right mind could think that McCain honestly thought she'd be the best person to replace him should he die suddenly!!

Everthing I've read about her mayorship is BAD. She couldn't even run a small town well! How in the world does that make her remotely qualified to stand in for a president?!!

    This always backfires.

I'm pretty sure Obama doesn't want a "vote for change" tour. Celebs acting like they know more than the average voter is what bothers me. They are totally entitled to their opinion. But, their vote is worth the same as mine and yours. They are also entitled to speaking out. But, bashing the opponent is where they lose me and in my opinion, a large amount of other people.

I really think that this behavior only rallies the opposition. But, I also don't think it will stop. These people love to hear themselves talk and love to think of themselves as a person who knows things.

Where exactly is it that he is acting like he knows more than the average voter? It was HIS OPINION of her.. and the things that scare him about this choice as VP.

    Yeah...

Well...until the day comes when I have a camera in my face asking me point blank what "I think about Sarah Palin". I guess I'm going to have to rely on Actors, Musicians, and Artists to voice these opinions on my behalf.

At least I'm not brainwashed by the false waterhead Flag humping propaganda that's got all you Neo Cons all hard and purple over some abhorantly under-qaulified Soccer Mom from Alaska.

I don't fear a McCain presidency as much as I fear for a Palin Presidency.

    God help us all.
