Is the Metro safe? How late does it run at night? I'm staying near Union Station.

The metro is safe. It runs until 3am on Friday and Saturday and midnight other days of the week. Union Station is only seven or so blocks from the arena. If you are staying at the Holiday Inn, Hyatt, or Dubliner on the Hill, you can shave a couple blocks off of the walk. However, you may want to metro to your hotel after the show - the area isn't bad but I think some might not want to make the walk on a Sunday night when no one is around (if it were me I would walk but others may disagree).

For the person who asked about Jury's, if you are staying at the one in Dupont, it is a good location with a nice Irish pub downstairs and plenty of things to do in the neighborhood. And it is only three metro stops from the arena, so still relatively close.

Plus there should be plenty of cabs after the show as well. Metro should not be a problem, I have gotten on it right at midnight and never had a problem getting back before.

I guess taking a cab is best in that sense than, right ? Or is it hard to come by when the show ends ? I really like to hang out in the city some hours after the show, so I assume that is not a problem.

Cabs are plentiful at almost all hours in the neighborhood of the area, so you will be fine.

Cab propably is best after midnight. I am not sure how late all the bars will be open on a Sunday, weeknights most are open until at least 1 or 1:30 AM.
