On the weekend, I went to the Norval Morriseau exhibit at the McMicheal Gallery... none of the pictures i can find on line do this work justice... but here are some examples:
civ, what beautiful work!
i love, love, love seeing unique work, personal visions...and what amazing colorations. simply gorgeous.
foxymop......excellent contributions as always. that andrew godsworthy image....brilliant! ever see the film fearless with jeff bridges and isabella rossellini? really good flick, but i bring it up b/c there is a sequence in it showing artwork that is supposedly created by bridges' character, sort of like a dream sequence....and some of goldworthy's work is utilized and it is perfection for it.
anyway, not to nag ....but ive been awaiting a certain painter's painting of a drummer for a good long time now. saw a fantastic, kinetic painting of a guitarist, and was promised a follow-up of a drummer, and yet.....no post. :( hmmmmmmmmm.....:p

Fearless .. You got me intrigued enough to go find a trailer It sounds familiar but don't think I've seen it .. can't think why, it's looks a good film (movie) I'll have to see if I can find the DVD somewhere.
haha ... Drummer .. ok, I did a watercolour as a sketch to work from, but someone bought it !!.. can't complain about that can I I got a couple of commissions inbetween times so still haven't painted a large oil of the drummer. Here's the watercolour though, if you'd like to see it .. http://www.meganburford.com/largeimage/drummer.html
complete with PJ stickman, right hand side above the drum (made a link 'cos it doesn't belong in the company of this thread!;)) I'll paint another sketch and get the full sized oil finished one day!
Got another artist for you .. the "op art" of Bridget Riley .. I love how she made something so simple such a huge movement in the art world (no pun intended:D)

yes, rent it. i own it...it really is good, and jeff bridges is excellent!
ahhhhhhh.....cool! hey nice for you that someone bought your 'sketch'...i was simply wondering where it was. looks GREAT! look forward to eventually seeing the final poduct....definitely post when you do, whenever you get to it! glad you've been busy creating, AND getting paid....excellent stuff.
and that stickman really 'sticks' out....hahaha!
i LOVe op art! back when i taught every year with my 5th graders i'd do a unit on op art...what fun, and an excellent way to incorporate a bit of math and measurement in with an art lesson....cool stuff!

I know! .. I would've made him a bit less obvious if i'd known someone was actually going to buy it He did get noticed in this one and I had to explain - the bloke was happy about "sticky" though so I told him to go listen to some Pearl Jam
I loved doing the sessions on op art at college (MANY many years ago!) I still have the variation of "Reconnaissance" somewhere (right side, chequers) that I painted at the time. There's alot of op art paintings now but Bridget is still the master!.. it's amazing how a few blocks of pattern not only give the impression of 3D but also appear to move as you look over the painting. Very clever.
Ugly, beautiful..in my humble view, thats not the point..I like his concepts, art that people can touch and makes part of life instead of hanging on a boring wall in a boring museum.
p.s. Love those sculptures of those big figures in the ocean and all...great!
That's like wrapping a beautiful diamond in silk. Sure silk is beautiful, but why would you cover up a masterpiece?

i could show you more, but i guess that's enough for the moment...haha..
