We stayed in a hotel right by the Ben Franklin Bridge on the PA side, it was cheap, maybe $100. Could hear the traffic but I was tired when I went to bed so no problems for me! The ferry is the way to go for sure. It's only like a 10 minute walk and it was over run w/PJ fans.
Going back takes a little time, there is usually a line. Find something to do or hang in the venue for about 1/2 an hour.
Take a half a day and check out the Aquarium. It's a good one!
We stayed at Club Quarters in 2006. The room was very small but it was cheap and pretty decent.
"I'll do whatever the song dictates - if it doesn't need a real lead, then I won't do one. But if it does, then I'll fuckin' go off." - Mike
"Japan is awesome; the fans there knew all the words to all the songs...at least phonetically." - Stone
"I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version." - EV
cherry hill/mt. laurel is a good place to stay, easy drive into camden and you can do rooms for $100 easily. I have stayed at the Radisson in Mt Laurel (very FAMILY oriented) and the StayAmerica (?) in Cherry Hill which ruled.
Priceline it for Cherry Hill / Mt Laurel, pretty safe bet
If it weren't for my horse, I never would have spent that year in college.

Nice area (is where I'm from). But this person wants some attractions from what I gather. To stay in Center City is the best bet. Pay a little more and be close to everything with plenty of public trans.

nothing beats the convenience of the hyatt, a two minute walk from the ferry. we stayed there for night #2 in '06, (drove home the first night) but it does cost a bit. if you have AAA, they offer discount rates... check directly on the hyatt website. i think there's also a sheraton just a block or so west of it.
We are staying at the Alexander Inn... it is the historical district... http://alexanderinn.com/
It got pretty good reveiws on travel sites and the price is right at $129.00 a night. If I remember correctly the rooms are small but they do have a private bath!

We stayed at the Comfort Inn last time and just booked this time. We took the ferry also. Even the Comfort Inn wasn't that cheap though - 161.99 was what we got, but Philly hotels seem to be quite expensive overall.

Take a cab (or hoof it, it's not too bad as long as the 100degree temps don't extend through that week) down to Penn's landing, and take the $5 ferry over. The trip times over there are staggered enough that it won't be too difficult/overloaded. The trips back over are insane, but so much fun! Craploads of PJ fans crammed onto a ferry
Im staying at the Penns Landing Hyatt. wasnt that much $219. I think.
I assume its pretty central to alot of good stuff??

In 06 we stayed at the best western independence park. It was a decent hotel in a good location. This year we are staying at a place called the penns view inn. It seems to be a good little hotel in a good location.
There is a Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn on Route 70 E in Cherry Hill. Both are only a 5 minute drive to the S-Center. I would highly recommend those hotels for anyone still looking for a room.
Definitely stay in Philly over Camden, but don't drive over the bridge, just take the ferry!! I think it's $5 round-trip. Well worth it.
Priceline is good place if you stick to the Center City locale. I've never tried the other site mentioned, but my recent experience with Priceline was great. $67/night @ Hilton Garden Inn, which is right in Chinatown and close to the major subway lines. Normally over $200/night.
The last time I took the ferry it was $6/person. So if you have 2 people that's more expensive than the $10 parking AT the venue. The Ben Franklin Bridge is only $3. Plus you'll have to pay $15 to park AT Penn's Landing. I live in Philly and work in Cherry Hill. I recommend parking at the venue.
ALSO!!! you should stay in Cherry Hill. It's a MUCH nicer suburb type area with plenty of strip malls and restaurants and a TON of hotel/conference centers. Much cheaper than staying in Philly and no where near as dangerous as Camden.

So coming from Club Quarters, you would still reccommend parking at the venue?
I had heard pearking there was not such a good idea?
Since nobody has mentioned this, I will. Be prepared to wait over an hour to board the ferry after the show when everybody piles out at the same time. If you are at the end of the line, it will be much worse.

In the cop's defense, I live about 15 blocks from the Liberty Bell and have never been to it. That's something that tourists do when in the city.
