Yeah it's french - I could tell that from your quote strangely! I have lived in france. I have no idea what it means or how excatly spelled. But my guess would be
Mots dit
(that would actually mean 'words said' - maybe it's a phrase)

one translation would be 'spoken word' but that might not be accurate to what he is describing. There is an online french poetry journal called mot dit also apparently
here's another poetry website with some poems but no definition
I've been researching "Happiness" lately (reading as many books as I can about this subject) and I discovered (in something I was reading this morning) that there's actually a branch of psychology called "positive psychology". Now I've got a whole new area to study when I've exhausted this subject.

are you happy, justam?
Yes.
Most of the time.
I just wonder about subjects and then I research it until I feel like I understand it. :geek:

i am listening to the grateful dead a lot these days.
they make me HAPPY every single time.
did you ever go see them?
i guess their home they rented when they were young little shits is a place to visit.
they do make me HAPPY.
I never saw the Grateful Dead. At least, not that I'm aware of. I knew that they existed, but they were for my mom's generation.
When I was young, we were listening to punk rock, Bruce Springsteen, TP, U2, and other rock bands. We thought the Grateful Dead was for old hippies. :?
The kids my age were divided into three groups, those that liked rock and punk, those that liked metal and punk, and kids that had no taste at all.

After reading these past few posts, I'm now listening to "Ripple."

Grateful Dead have changed my life. Oneday maybe you can try their stuff. I have not been the same since.
The hippies were our parents guys! They took us to peace marches, but we didn't want to be them. (!!) :?
I could give you a long list of reasons why the hippies were lame but I don't wanna get negative.
People can idealize them from a distance but that's not the reality of the situation.
Music was probably their best contribution though.

the deal is, it's beyond hippy stuff. it's unexplainable to me. i guess it's happy magic. jerry and company are solid talent and love. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e231uv5Ae34
i been all over this song all day today.
Hey Justam - when you've done this research into happiness, and find the answer.... could I get a copy of your notes??
Actually not being happy has never been one of my problems- I have never been depressed. I have been petrified, devastated, bewildered and sad - but I would never say 'depressed' because I think I have quite a constructive outlook, and when a crisis passes I am quite content. Most of my unhappiness has been caused by objectively dire circumstances! I have friends however, where it's clearly a 'mood' thing - they are unhappy and there is no external reason - they call themselves depressed. Personally I think 'melancholy' and sadness are an important part of life - I am often melancholy for a few hours, but I think I've learned to enjoy the melancholy for what it is - like I enjoy winter....

"Hear me, my chiefs!
I am tired; my heart is
sick and sad. From where
the sun stands I will fight
no more forever."
Chief Joseph - Nez Perce
Mots dit

mot dit in french would be pronounced 'mo dee'
mot is word and dire is the verb to speak - dit is past participle.
I don't whether this is a known tradition or not - I'm pretty sure it's this tho!!

every band is entitled to a few shitty tunes.

And yet that was the only tune the radio played often. Go figure.
