Thanks for the good wishes guys. He's feeling a bit better today and has lots of medicine to take but it's scary when this kind of thing happens. His asthma can become acute all of a sudden and we end up in the hospital for hours while he has nebulizer treatments.

THIS time it was compounded by the fact that there was fluid in his lungs.

Sometimes I worry that I'm over-reacting but clearly, in this case, I was NOT.

omg, justam. who are you talking about? hope everything is okay with you and your family. you have always been so nice to me on here. you deserve the best, girl! hang in there.

My younger child. He's recovering but I need to take him back to the doctor today.

Any kind of illness related to his respiration and it's like a tight-rope walk. The asthma keeps us on our toes because it takes over and then he can't breathe not only because of the mucus (or whatever fluid builds up), but also because of everything getting activitated and inflamed. :|

We ended up in the hospital the other day because a cold he stayed home from school for the previous week had turned into pneumonia. He had told me he was feeling better because he didn't want to miss school again on Monday because of his exams... however, he came home pale, wheezy, and hardly able to walk up the stairs. He'd been holding his coughs in and breathing on top to make it seem like he didn't HAVE to cough but by then I could hear the wheeze with just my ear on his back. :geek:

    Thanks for asking though.

    (I've gotta go.)

    it's rhythm on the glass
    Inside he sits all alone
And waits for time to pass

His thoughts go back to what's her name
    Who briefly shared his life
He wonders where she is today
    If she's someone elses wife
He wonders if she thinks of him
On dark days such as these
And is she happy knowing that
She drove him to his knees

Then there's the one who left at dawn
The one who brought the rain
But she don't mean a thing to him
    Just another passing train
    So he lights another cigarette
    Pours another drink
    Still sitting there
    All by himself
With all of time to think.

In this instance I forgot my self imposed rule... 'Never travel for a man'. Once I set my mind straight again things will settle a bit, I'm sure.

i know...it's beyond comprehension the shock, horror and pain that Haitians are having to deal with... it's so compounded by the immense poverty they already lived with...it's heartbreaking

    You'll me missed Teddy Pendergrass....RIP

Wake up everybody no more sleepin in bed
No more backward thinkin time for thinkin ahead
The world has changed so very much
From what it used to be so
there is so much hatred war an' poverty

Wake up all the teachers time to teach a new way
Maybe then they'll listen to whatcha have to say
Cause they're the ones who's coming up and the world is in their hands
when you teach the children teach em the very best you can.

The world won't get no better if we just let it be
The world won't get no better we gotta change it yeah, just you and me.

Wake up all the doctors make the ol' people well
They're the ones who suffer an' who catch all the hell
But they don't have so very long before the Judgement Day
So won'tcha make them happy before they pass away.
Wake up all the builders time to build a new land
I know we can do it if we all lend a hand
The only thing we have to do is put it in our mind
Surely things will work out they do it every time.

Just thinking after seeing these images from Haiti that if this earthquake had hit several hundred miles to the west, it would've hit Jamaica. There my father lives and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be alive today. This whole tragedy is sad and scary indeed.

I also didn't know 40,000 US citizens reside in Haiti.

    Peace
