  • No tease Lance - check other Texas threads. According to Mike they're playing ASL and according to American Airlines Center they are pending for them on the 25th.

yesterday, Rubysdad (prez of 10C) said that there are no other planned dates for 2008. I understand that this email was sent out to several people- but who are you gonna believe, some email from a venue in Texas (that even indicates it is only "pending") or the prez of the 10C?

Does anyone have this e-mail from Rubysdad to share? Maybe that means there are no more confirmed and shceduled dates for 2008.

But the ACL lineup comes out in about 3 weeks and they ususally start either dropping hints (via a crossword or something) or leaks begin to come out a few days before.

I will try my best not to get my hopes up...but the dates themselves do seem promising!

  • LOLz. How come so many douche bags are into a great band like Pearl Jam? Shouldn't you guys be on Creed boards or something like that? Waste of time filling you in (especially the last 2 guys) and time is valuable so I won't waste anymore except to say that Beerbaron "clerly" should drop the beers and pick up a book. After the dates are announced, I'll check back to see the BS kids apology.

In my best Bill Walton Settle down there big man. ;)

It's been a long time since they have been to our state, so if we want to hope and dream what's the harm?
I think we are all aware of the "pending" status involved, but at this point it just makes me feel a little bit better to think that maybe we weren't left out of another tour. :o

Besides it's not the last part of Rubysdad's statement that gives me a glimmer of hope, it's the first part: Obviously, this could change.

how many rumours were there, tons, msg what few days prior, rest weren't correct.

There's lots of motivation for folks attending east coast shows to have fellow pj fans pass on east coast tickets. Just letting my fellow jammers to not take much stock in these weak rumours....may not be in their best interest. And PJ said nothing else is planned for rest of year......

The 28th is ACLfest Sunday. And, with the Superpages.com Center email, I'd say those are probably good bets. Austin hasn't had a show since, what 95 maybe? Way too long for such a great music city. I'd rather they not come to San Antonio again. It was a good enough show, but I'd rather cruise up I-35.

Thanks Kat - correct me if I am wrong, but have we ever seen the Mods come right out and debunk rumours like this? Looks like I should be looking into flights to West Palm (why is something in my gut telling me that is a mistake?!)

You obviously aren't fluent in PR mumbo jumbo talk.

He said there are no other dates "planned." Doesn't mean they can't plan some later.

yeah, I tried to clarify this yesterday in a few threads that got ovrerlooked (well my posts did anyway). I am taking the "as of now, no other dates planned" with a grain of salt. There may be no dates confirmed right now, and they are waiting so they can sell the announced shows out. ACL is usually announced in May, so we will see. I'm hoping for the ACL rumor to be true and the Dallas date and possibly a Houston date to become true. I haven't seen a pj show since Dallas 2003, so I really hope I get an opportunity to see them again soon. It's just to expensive for me to fly out, book hotel, get tickets, transportation ect. Hopefully soon though.

I for one don't appreciate being lied to. I do appreciate that for marketing purposes you may not want to announce other shows in the south since the band is going to being playing the Austin City Limits Festival and other shows around that time (which will be announced in just a couple of weeks in mid-April), but to say that there are no additional shows being "planned" when those of us who know people who work with concert promoters who are most certainly "planning" shows for Pearl Jam to be playing other parts of the country, it is insulting to flat out lie to us and tell us that no additonal shows are being "planned" when discussions are most certainly ongoing for other shows. Instead of just saying things like this, couldn't you just say that there are no other shows "confirmed"? It'd make statements like this a little easier to take. Especially for those of us who know this is not the truth.

good point. If you know for sure that pj is playing in texas, than the administer's comment is completely misleading!

I am totally on the same page with you. But she will not say anything to us at this point simply because she is an employee of that organization who is following orders. And the orders are not to leak anything about the additional dates to crazy-ass fans before the current dates are sold. It is a simple business strategy.

I can totally appreciate the marketing aspect of wanting to only announce limited dates and sell as many of those as possible, but when there are thousands of people who are selling tickets based on the fact that Pearl Jam is going to be playing the Dallas area, I don't see the need to come on here and totally deny that any other shows are even possibly going to be happening.

Which is why she could have said nothing as they usually do around here. They don't usually come outright and deny rumours. Now I don't know how true these rumours may be, but why would she voluntarily risk any of her credibility by saying there are no other shows planned if she knows that to be false?

Rumors are one thing, but when thousands of people are being e-mailed by legitimate venues that are selling tickets based on the fact that Pearl Jam are purported to be playing in Dallas, that's another thing altogether.

The thing with that is that it's possible that those plans fell through for some reason and whoever is in carge of the newsletters either wasn't informed in time or jumped the gun. I don't think we can know for sure yet what the story is.

I don't believe that for a second. They're playing ACL, and they're playing Dallas and Houston in the days before and the days after, and they're just not announcing it yet.

I hope you're right because time-wise I could do those gigs a lot easier than what's been announced and I'll probably hold-off. I just know that they were meant to do Pink Pop last year but cancelled- they went on to do a short Euro tour but it began a week or two later.
