At least this confirms that it's somewhat of a tour? Why else would we not want 'anything less' than what is right if it was about something else? And what other kind of announcement would have had to have been postponed?

Just for the sake of argument (I still think a tour is the most likely announcement) but if they were to release some material like Radiohead, the delay could also be to get the technical stuff up and running.
Not a bad thought. But, don't you think info about a new album would've been leaked at some point? Plus, if this were the case, they wouldn't just put the new material up for download immediately, so I don't think this is the case. Of course, anything is possible, it's not a bad idea. I'm gonna go with a tour though.
