"At around 11:30 last Saturday night, two men of equally modest stature—one in a gray suit, the other in jeans and a worn jacket—were enjoying a cigarette on the corner of Bank Street and Waverly Place.

The better-dressed man was the actor Sean Penn. He was pointing at something to do with the upper reaches of a townhouse across the street. His companion, Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder, looked upward, his face peaking out from a tangle of rangy locks. He nodded, seemingly in agreement with what Mr. Penn had said. As this meeting of two great minds transpired, two photographers, standing only feet away, were idly snapping photograph after identical photograph.

Then a third, taller man approached—prompting the lensmen to scramble around for the perfect position.

“Hey, fellas, can we get a group shot?” asked one of the paparazzi. He spoke in a foreign accent.

“O.K., just one and then you’ll leave, right?” said the actor Tim Robbins, as he and his two friends reluctantly, if placidly, succumbed. “I feel like I’m at a premiere,” Mr. Robbins said. “We’re out on the streets.”

Mr. Robbins and his famous friends were not merely out on streets, but on the street in front of the Waverly Inn, a West Village pub recently reborn as the city’s latest clubhouse to the rich and famous under the direction of its host-with-the-mostest, Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter."

Is this just jelousy from a tall ugly dude?..

I noticed on the SNL re-run the other night, Ed was taller than Lindsey Lohan was on SNL even with her high heals... and he's taller than Emilio Estevez.

On a separate note, I need to ask why do many of the pictures of Eddie the last year or so look like he's very 'happy' to be on stage?? That can't just be a fold in his pants or bad angle every time?

I'd say they could easily entertain themselves by contributing sarcastic comments meant to rile up us women... (B nice, the whole dwarf comment actually was sort of clever if not transparent for your motives for posting it!)

Anyways, at least maybe study the photos for tips on how to get one's hair so flowing and beautiful (men and women alike!).

Eddie Vedder turns me on more than any other man in the world but I was watching a documentry about him on Tuesday and my Mum called round. When I told her this is the man I'm totall obsessed with she said "oh, he looks like your father".......now I'm slightly worried as I think modern day Ed does actually look like my Dad!!
Underneath this smile lies everything........... all my hopes, anger, pride and shame

moms say shit like that when they see an attractive young man, they start reminicing about being young, and their hubby being young, and although they don't actually LOOK like your dad, it's the fact that they're young and full of energy, and she relates that idea to your dad.

so don't get creeped out. as current ed, sometimes it creeps me out, cause both he and my dad have beards, but i try not to think of it
