It's beautiful! It captures pure innocence.

BTW....Squirrel consider yourself amoung the freakin talented!
'..... Ah! A perfect illustration of the poststructuralist paradox. Does the signifier "Merlot" correspond with the 'truth' of the bottle I polished off last night, or do we hold in our thoughts a different "signified" of bottle-of-Merlot-ness? Perhaps we're dreaming of the same bottle!" -FinsburyParkCarrots

That's a really lovely portrait, Squirrel! Is it of someone you know? I used to draw faces all the time, but they were out of my imagination & I never knew how they would turn out. It's very tough to capture the character of an actual person, let alone the likeness...good work!

You've got talent, Squirrel! I haven't posted any of my drawings, but I make jewelry for a living & pics are featured on my website (just hit the "www"...)
Drawing takes you into a completely different realm, doesn't it? I used to draw at work when it was quiet, and I never knew what face would emerge. It was like an actual person with a mind & personality of its own taking shape on the paper! Being lost in a piece of artwork is an awesome trip--keep at it 'cause you're really good!

Thanks, yeah, I sell well at festivals and shows, but it's not that easy selling from a website without a lot of marketing and advertising. The customers who have found me through Google have been great so far, but there's a lot of competition, to be sure! Mostly I'm a stay-at-home mom, but the jewelry keeps me extra busy! Maybe you could sell your work; people like custom portraits done.

  • thats really good i'm not the greatest drawer, writing is really the only thing besides the drums i can really do with any success.
    The wind is blowing cold
Have we lost our way tonight?
Have we lost our hope to sorrow?

    Feels like were all alone
    Running further from what’s right
And there are no more heroes to follow

    So what are we becoming?
    Where did we go wrong?

I think you're underestimating yourself. If you can do that as a quick sketch, then you can do all sorts of things. Good work.

Squirrel, you could illustrate children's books. Just don't write them because they usually aren't accepted by publishers in your often bawdy style!

  • Wow. Beautiful picture, Squirrel. It captures the innocence and vulnerability of being a child. That's the beauty of children, innocence. It's a gift we should cherish in every person before it's gone.

  • squirrel - the horses........excellent!!! i love it - the composition, graphic sensibility to shape, n your use of color..................your sketch is lovely, but the painting shows a much stronger sense of individual style - makes me think a bit of franz marc n his boldly colored, sensual animals..............but still havent answered my question - are you a formal arts student at uni - or is this just a private love???

n hehehe...........bawdy???!!! sals referring to your written style here sweetie!!! n she is joking in any case - lol. im sure your writing style for children would be quite a different story than how you write here.

seriously, think of all my posts..............then imagine me talking like that in front of 25 first graders - sh*t, even 8th graders - LMFAO!!! yes my personality is the same no matter what - but my language n manners do adjust to whatever atmosphere im in - just as im sure you do, n everyone else as well. hehehe................still have the pic in my mind of me in front of a class - the way i am here!!! too, too funny!!! :D

are you seriously interested in writing/illustrating childrens books??? or was it merely part of the conversation here...........

fyi - bawdy: coarsely n humorously indecent. must add this to your cool word thread!!! lol

seriously nut, 99% of us are bawdy here - nothing wrong with that............all good fun!!! :p

sal came up with the children's book idea...never even thought of it to be honest...erm...don't think i could...she's prolly right, my style is more...erm....erm...yeah well bawdy...lmao...no you're right we all adjust to our surroundings...but i doubt i'd be good at it..like stuff i write usually ends up quite postmodern..lol..in manner of bridget jones :D
