  • maby the book could include a cd of people who posted songs.
  • setaside2setaside2 Posts: 1,084
That's certainly possible.. however it would drive the cost of the book retail up by 10 - 20 dollars AND the costs of production would probably double (those companies REALLY like to OVER project the costs of burning CD's and a little cardboard).

So a definite option; I know I would love to hear stuff from people on this board.

    A multi-media textbook eh?? hmmm...

and sevensins, as a major aside, I have to say that you needing to taste spam BECAUSE it is rumored to taste like dogshit.... well, that smacks of the worst sort of sado-masochism known. LOL

Are you one of those people that says "Holy shit! this stuff is NASTY!! Here, TRY IT!" ? ? ?

    :D:D

Maby we could put the songs on a casset, that would cost less.Or sell it separetly.

Yo well... ironically i was just emailing 10C about the PJ Fest... I know I promised not to talk about that here, but they have received all our goodies.

I have not come up with anything better than what we've got so far.

Although a second thought as arisen:
we would need an agent of some sort OR someone with connections, to really get the ball rolling on publication of this. ESPECIALLY for charity purposes. There are a lot of publishing agencies that just don't go for that sort of thing due to the hassles of licensing and also because, well, they just don't make as much money on a charity book. ESPECIALLY (again that word ends up in caps) when it is written by a bunch of no name grunge rock fans. LOL. Which I am happy to be a part of for these past 13 years.

But there is a good chance someone would really dig this. LOL if our PJ Fest starts taking off, you can be sure that I'll be pitching this to those that take over for me and Chris and having them mull it over carefully. We'll make it a limited edition thing for the show (autographed yeah!) and then make the soft cover or whatever available for after the show to the ordinary mundane public joe.

It's just an idea... we'll see where it goes. But, one thing, it IS an idea with great merit and great potential. This will be good. One way, or the other.

  • I am so in on this! What a bloodey fantastic idea (spam aside). I think a mixture of poetry, prose and art would be cool and also would probably appeal to more people (you know, a bit of everything you fancy does you good). Are we going to keep posting about this or is this going over to email communication?
  • i just noticed this too. count me in!

We shalt post on this further... until it is deemed necessary to take it to the e-track, yo. :D

Also, we need to post this on the Art Wall and see what those drawing, sculpting, painting, sketching, black charcoaled covered fingers, clay smelling, kiln firing, laser pointing folks would like to do over there.

I'll do the post if everyone wants me to, but I need a half hour to drop the kids off at school. LOL

Hey gang, the Art Wall version of this thread has been posted.

But since it takes like 3 presidential administrations to actually POST over there, I suspect that it may take some time for them to check us out. We shall see.

Looking for ideas that we can all agree upon as far as which charitable organization should receive the proceeds? And will this be an entirely not for profit book? Little things like that should be thrown around and discussed like glow in the dark frisbees.

  • Also, if PJ Fest comes to fruition, we could have a Spoken Word Poetry Jam at it. Probably not on the main stage, mind you, but perhaps a little booth next to the urinals or something.

    Or: IN the urinals.

    Yes. I am inspired.

okay then we have... sevensins... which sounds interesting if you read it aloud.

I need a couple days to figure out how we might go about doing this.

Maybe I'll set up an email addy just for the poetry and I'll start archiving it. If you all have photos that you might want to go with your poetry, that might be cool.. I will probably be doing that since photog stuff is my game as well...

    AAAAGH! I DON'T KNOW!

    hungry. must eat.

i just read the beging of this post by acsident, whats so interesting about my name if you read it aloud......sevensins......sevensins......se-ven-sins...i dont get it.
  • You guys have some great ideas. Some of us have access to paging programs. It would be easy to throw everything into a PDF or whatever, but would it be online or a printed version only? And legal issues is another ballgame altogether.

    That quotations book sounds interesting.
  • i was thinkin' if we did readings at pj fest since my poems are lyrics to songs, could my band play one of them for my reading?
  • setaside2setaside2 Posts: 1,084
seven, that sounds pretty f#$king sweet!

however, let's not get ahead of ourselves where the fest is concerned... it's more than a pipe dream but less than a reality at this point, shall we say.

we need all the karma we can get.

Someone tell savannah that she needs to send Karma over to kick some dogma for our cause.

    Seven you are amazing.

Folks, what I am going to try to do, so that we may accumulate all our material in one place, is to set up a subaccount with earthlink (my ISP), as I have 4 available at this time. This way we can all email our prospective pieces for the book to one spot and we can work on order and detail as we go, or all at once, or what have you.

Let me know if you all think this will suffice for now.

I'll work on the prepub and layout later. hee hee. Let's see what we've got to say about all this first.
