I'm waiting for the e-mail too.

but if it is like the 2 songs already released I can tell I'm going to like this one a lot.

it actually sounds like NIN...unlike Ghosts.

I like it and I'm amazed that Trent is doing so much for his fans but I really don't think it can hold a candle to Year Zero. That album has some amazing tracks on it.

Lights in the Sky is definitely my favorate right now. I don't understand why the album has 2-3 more instrumentals since Ghosts had 36. Another song with lyrics would've been nice :(. Pleased with everything else.

Totally agree. Tracks 8 and 9 are pretty pointless.

most of his albums have one or two instrumentals. no reason why this one should be any different. i like them.

i like this new releasing-new-material-all-the-time-instead-of-every-5-years trent.

july 26 cannot come soon enough.

It's pretty neat, but not as good as Year Zero imo. I'm not liking the inorganic sound as much. Seems like he's really just experimenting with new ideas lately. That's good, but I don't think it has come together yet.

Thank you for your continued and loyal support over the years - this one's on me.
No, thank you Trent. You are a savior to broke bitches in need of new GOOD music like myself.

Don't get me wrong I like what I hear but:
does anyone else feel like all these songs are B-sides to With Teeth, Year Zero, and Ghosts.

  • i like this much more than Year Zero and Ghosts

Thank god Robin is back. Trent better keep him around.

The album is pretty garage-rock sounding. A huge departure for Trent. But there are moments in it that also sound like The Fragile

So Trent is once again traveling new ground.

Not a chance on Robin. He belongs to GNR ;)

Actually, Ghosts 37 and 38 multitrack files were released. So there's 2 more tracks floating around as well :)

I wish he'd lose the tacky synthy drum sound.

Downloaded this today..l quite like it. I never did get Year Zero, but might have to go pick it up. I really like With Teeth and thought the Fragile was a masterpiece.

    Head Down is fucking wicked!

You mean that sound he has used since 1989?

Yeah i am sure that's going to happen.

    NIN without any programming....right. hahaha

does anyone actually listen to their albums, or just the radio when they play "hurt" and "closer"? hahahahahahaha

I had one listen so far and my impressions are favorable. NIN albums usually age well the more you listen to them, so I'm optimistic this will be one of my favorites.

It took me about ten times of listening to Year Zero before I started to appreciate it (although it not one of my most favorite NIN records).

This new record is the most "live" sounding NIN record, and that is a good thing. (plus, it’s free!)

i think the 2 instrumentals were pointless too. we just had ghosts. and if im wrong phm and with teeth didnt have any instrumentals and the tds had one which was brilliant. but a 7 minute one a few weeks after ghosts is kind of a joke. good album though. way better than year zero. i only liked about half of that one, when usually his albums have maybe one song i dont like.

I understand what everyone is saying about the instrumentals with Ghosts just being released, but come on...Trent is the man!! I mean, a full-length LP for FREE!!!! And there are some kick ass tunes on there!

He probably won't, but when he uses other instruments I like his music so much more. I find that particular sound so life-less and uninteresting.

The album is alright but if I bought it in a shop I'd be dissapointed.
  • sounds like NIN. not really blown away by it, but i like it ok. most of it sounds the same to me.

    but its free.
  • Yea the instrumentals lately have been dull. Ghosts had some great ones but the ones on here are dull. I want some more instrumentals like on the Fragile. Not just clashing computer sounds and shit.
