WORST concerts (top five) you've seen

This guy gets it! Cheers bro. Go Nucks0 -
I've only had 2 really horrible experiences:
1. Wu Tang in 2007 (headliner with Rage Against The Machine)...all 15 dudes on stage had a mic so you never got just one person rapping...horrible!
2. Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys at the Bridge School Benefit this past October...I know he's had a rough life, but he sounded horrible! Luckily they had some decent back up singers!0 -
Lets see if i can come up with a bottom five...
1. Type O negative - solo concert, did cost $70,- and they played 30 minutes, the only song which got response was a cover, terrible... Especially because a half year earlier I had seen them on a festival and they were great!
2. dEUS - No chemistry with the public. All band members on stage, not one looking into the huge crowd, only looking at each other and their own instruments...
3. Henri Rollins - Pinkpop '95 (I believe...). Completely wasted on stage... couldn't remember his lines, or how to stand up straight...
4. Smashing Pumpkins - Pinkpop '94. Great show.. or so I have heard... Standing way in the back of the crowd, and as a rather short person, i didn't see shit!
5. Prolegy - 97. Great performance, but a crowd which didn't respond at all... No one was dancing, just standing there and listening...
"The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed".- Carl Jung.

Sorry Brian, but I can't resist here:brianlux said:I must be one lucky guy- I can't think of any concerts I've particularly disliked, just ones I've liked more than others.
I think I would have an easier time posting on a thread called, "WORST concert audiences (top five) you've seen".
Eddie Vedder's first solo effort ever in Vancouver (2009) featured a few first rate knobs: always yelling during moments they shouldn't and likely feeling they were sharing the spotlight. I was kinda wanting to smack them... I'm sure Ed and some others were too. Very annoying.
Some people. Sheesh.
No need to apologize, Thirty, I get it!
Worst audience I can remember was seeing Leo Kottke in Santa Rosa, CA, 1990. Kottke's up there blowing my mind playing two or three part on a guitar by himself and all these well to do yuppies around us do in response is applaud mildly like Leo was giving a talk on how to install conduit between wall studs. The worst of it was this couple behind us who were jabber jawing the whole time and breathing their vintage wine and garlic breath down our necks. I was like one of the only one's between songs going, YEAH! ALRIGHT! while everyone else politely clapped like they had gloves on. I felt terribly for poor Leo but he was a real trooper and did his thing regardless.
I did a semester of college in Jalapa, MEX....I lived with a señora and her daughters.....they had a record player and three albums that had been left by other exchange students.....EL&P, Trilogy; Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen, Live and......Leo Kottke, Greenhouse.....the man can play. We played the shit out of all three.
If I had known then what I know now...

Dave Matthews Band - Camden 2002 I think. Got free fanclub tickets 5th row from a record rep friend at the time. Took the ferry over from Philly. Two songs in we left. Fucking asshole behind us puked all over the back of my fiancée. He got kicked out, we took off. I'm sure the band was alright.www.cluthelee.com0

Did you start a 'Camden 2 puke' thread on the Warehouse?
These situations are about the only good reason for conceal and carry.

Weezer, 1997. - a really poor performance. They even apologized during the show.
Thats all i can think of this early. Ironically the RHCP were one of the best sounding shows ive ever been to. Anthony sounded great and on key all night.Post edited by cp3iverson on0 -

I believe it was Keith Richards and the Expensive Winos. Pretty sure PJ opened for them New Year's Eve in NY in 92. It was the free boot given out with the 10 Club version of Avocado.imalive said:

1. Soul asylum - Only headliners I ever left early. Must had been an off night, I'd always heard good things about them.
2. Kanye west - I love me some live U2, but I wish they would not try to open my mind to new music. Fella said "yeah" a 100 times or so and that about covered it.
3. Banana melt or Melt banana???. It was SOOO bad. Opened for tool years ago. I was wanting to keep small bands out of this, but consider this your warning if they play in your area.
4. Cheap trick - must have been an off night. Was really kinda excited to see them.
5. Bob Dylan - now I really enjoyed this show, but the wife will never let me forget making her watch this living legend. So in hindsight it was bad.Post edited by crowes74 on0 -
^^^^ I've seen soul asylum and they were great and I can't imagine cheap trick being bad.
The other three? I'm not surprised. If I had known then what I know now...

- '97 Rocket from the Crypt opened for Soundgarden at the Roseland (NYC). Man they were painful. And then Soundgarden came out and Chris, as always back then, sounded like shit. Not only did Chris sound terrible, but Ben Shepard was cursing and spitting at the front of the crowd. He looked generally sour and pissed off. Then Chris cursed out Rolling Stone and the media. Generally a down mood and down vibe given off by the band. They broke up soon after
- went to see Phish once in Philly around '00 when I was in college. They were boring as hell. Still never got what all the fuss was about. I can see why people get fucked up for their shows. You have to b fucked up to sit through it (old man rant over)
- My ex wanted to see Creed. I don't think I need to explain further
- Our Lady Peace was painful. I went through a faze in college where I really connected to Happiness is not a fish. Saw them at Irving Plaza and it was underwhelming. I bought Spiritual Machines, which was ok, but they really put out crap after that. I'm embarrassed that I was that into them for about 2-3 years lol.
- Counting Crows. I came to them later in life. Saw them for Hard Candy tour for the first (and only) time. They played for about an hour, zero songs off Hard Candy (how do u tour behind an album and not play 1 song off it?). They played 10 songs total. Of the 10 songs they heavily re-arranged about 8 of them. I mean I thought it was ok to re-arrange but I don't think most of the crowd appreciates it and I know my wife didn't. She wont go see them again and it's been about 8 years. Still talks about how boring it was and how they "messed around with every song". Oh yeah, it didn't help that Maroon 5 opened. Ugh.Post edited by pledgeagrievance on0 -
Wu Tang in Newcastle on Tuesday is now the worst gig I've been too. Was so looking forward to it beforehand. When they finally made it on stage (well over an hour after the support act had finished) there was no method man, raekwon or rza. The sound was awful and to round it all off some drunk idiot tried to pick a fight with me for no reason!'F*** the pessimists. F*** 'em.' Eddie Vedder0

worst concert i seen by far would have to be
guns n roses (around 2007, Axel,s with his new lineup)
they came on 2hrs late sounded terrible, and cheesy little pyrotechnics display on stage. we left 6 or 7 songs into the set by that stage half the crowd had already left0 -
frank sinatra in the pouring rain in the mid 80's
he played for 45 min and left!0 -
Those fuckers were always late and treated their audiences poorly...it's a shame, they put out a classic album.yellowledbetterman80 said:worst concert i seen by far would have to be
