Pretty sure there could be a whole thread devoted to bad opening acts.

Absolutely! My first two nominees would be Mudhoney and Tegan and Sarah or whatever they're called. Awful.
Too bad you can't appreciate Mudhoney, I really enjoy them live.
Couldn't name a single Teagan and Sarah song, but I'll take your word for it.
It might be shallow of me, but I'll take her word for it too.

Scott weiland last year in Houston was the worst show I've ever been to. It was a sad train wreck. This review was actually kind. http://www.houstonpress.com/music/last-night-scott-weiland-at-house-of-blues-6762467

Smashing pumpkins have sucked the two times I've seen them. Also, a date made me go to Bon jovi and that was torture.

I saw MGMt and Cold War kids and thought both were terrible as well (though I'm not a fan)

That weiland show was very disappointing, glad it was free.

Matt Nathanson. I saw him because a girl dragged me to the concert. His in between song banter was annoying as hell and just immature (Who wants to twist my nipple? I'll give you the choice of right or left!). All the college age women ate it up and I hated it--HATED IT.

RHCP are great live. I've only seen them on the last two tours, but they were great each time. They don't seem to play much before blood sugar sex magic these days though. Would have loved to have seen them in the early days. I think the earliest they went back on the stadium Arcadium tour was "Me and my friends"

    I don't know that I have five...

    1. Mars Volta (opening for RHCP): Just noise...nothing more.

    2. Alanis Morissette. Yeah, I like her albums, especially post-Jagged Little Pill. But she had no energy, no stage presence. No passion on "You Ought to Know" (I guess I should fee good for her...the anger was gone)

    3. RCHP: Good energy, but Anthony is just not a very good singer. And 90 minutes is kinda lame.

    4. Bob Dylan (2005): Enjoyed him in 2000 and 2002...the 2005 show really showed his age.

Seen them twice. Both times not impressed. Anthony sounds like crap live and they played short sets both times. I don't think they hit the hour and a half mark either time

Add me to the Bob Dylan list. Saw him in 97? I think. Edit - I feel like I've posted this here before but didn't see it.

  • Yah... I just want to emphasize the fact that Bob Dylan sucks big time.

I disagree with the RHCP critics to some degree. Kiedis is not fantastic, but Flea is awesome. Their music is outstanding too.

I'm not a big fan, but I like and know their music. I've seen them three times and have been incredibly underwhelmed. The reason I went back after the first two bad shows is because I took my brother for his bday. Regardless, they're disappointing live. Kiedis sounds like shit and seems like he's going through the motions.

When they opened for PJ a few years back didn't Ed say something about them letting it all hang out after not playing for awhile? I didn't hear their performance but maybe Ed even thought they were off.
