  • New Pre-Election song up at their Myspace and Facebook pages.

Also available as a free download here.

Oooh, cheers for that. :D It's awesome, in its own low-key way.
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.
  • The Halloween show at the Ryman was pretty epic! They showed up in those sparkly Nudie suits, Porter Wagoner style :D

Closed with "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" by Van Halen and "Rockin' in the Free World", if I remember correctly (it's very possible that I don't!). :P

Lots of Nashville musicians were in attendance. And Patrick Hallahan, the drummer for My Morning Jacket, was there with his wife.

PBM, thanks for posting that song!

"Ain't Talkin' 'Bout..." = sweeeeet. :D I haven't caught that one live yet.
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.

It's been two years since I've been to a Rock Show.

Funny how shows decrease once you start to raise a little Trucker of your own.

So cool to have them so close to the Shore. Hoping my occassional e-mails to Starland requesting they book them has something to do with it:)

One of those Athens shows would be divine.

I'm sure they sell out the 40 Watt rather quickly.

I had a great time seeing the Truckers for the first time last night in Pittsburgh, but my god was that a pathetic crowd. Just about the entire front of the of the audience stayed seated the entire time, and it was clear that over half the people weren't into the music.

Of course everyone jumped to their feet and starting pumping their arms in the air as soon as The Hold Steady came out. I'm not a fan but I certainly wasn't going to be lazy and just sit there like many of those people did for DBT (though we did end up leaving early).

I really want to see a full Truckers show some time in the relatively near future, but this was a nice little introduction.

Surprising...that their intensity didn't translate to the crowd. Even though they are sharing the bill each night, I imagine it is tough to win over a crowd going on first...there is a stigma...especially if a band isn't widely known.

A full-on Truckers show is great...I highly recommend.

The last time I saw the Truckers was in Memphis in '06. After many beers, I headed down to the bathroom when they started to play Sinkhole. The whole men's room sang in unison. Quite an interesting and strange sight.

Kind of the opposite happened in Nashville. I suppose it's natural that most of the crowd would be there for the "headliner", but it'd be weird seeing DBT as an "opener"!

My new concert companion agreed that we'll have to see them the next time they're around, even if we have to go over to Ohio to do it. He'd never heard of DBT a month ago, but he's loving them. He couldn't get over Cooley walking out to the front of the stage and striking his rocker poses.

That's funny because here in Atlanta, where the DBT closed, it was the exact opposite. People were dead for THS, but popped for the DBT. Granted, DBT's hometown is practically here, but I was kinda dissapointed that nobody was up for THS. I knew there wouldn't be much crossover between the two bands, but I thought people would be up for both.

I was there....I was totally unfamiliar with THS...I suspect that was common among the late arriving crowd.

  • I can't wait for this weekend's back to back shows. I'll get to see each band headline a show so I'll be interested to see how the crowd reacts each night.

    Shut up - I hate you : )

Kidding, I'm just jealous I won't be seeing DBT again anytime soon..
