FIFTY minutes after ticketmaster tix went on sale for pittsburgh, i remembered, signed in and could've had row B center seats 1&2, which according to the seating chart is front row. i hesitated and got row C instead and i'm not complaining, but wtf? if these 2 bands together can't sell 10 tickets in the first hour, i've gone from worried it would be sold out to worried it'll be cancelled. does no one anywhere have taste?
I'm not sure about The Hold Steady- to be honest with you, I've never heard of them- should I have??? Anyway, DBT is the type of band that will eventually sell out, or at least come close to. I've only seen them live at Roo, but I'm not gonna wait too long to get tickets to their show- it will sell out- but not in minutes

I would think, yeah. i felt like i caught on late when i first heard em last year. they don't sound anything like dbt but you'll have no problem hearing how they could share a fanbase. a drunken replacements cover as a nightly finale wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Oooh, good call. I could see it!
I'll be at the Halloween show at the Ryman (10th row center, and my first show ever at the Ryman!) and strongly considering Atlanta, if I can rope my friends into going.
I'll also likely hit the Chicago show.
SO excited. According to Patterson's latest MySpace blog, the band headlining each night is the bigger draw in that market. Interesting...

My favorite venue...I can't express how much it stings that I can't attend. The Ryman is such a great place to see a show.
In the balcony, the seats are like old church pews.
Have a great time and enjoy the show!

"We paced ourselves and we didn't rush through it and we tried to be as creative as our collective minds would let us be over some course of time instead of just trying to rush through a record"
Then the biggest news of the fall, possibly the whole year for us as we go out for nearly a month co-headlining a national tour with our new friends THE HOLD STEADY.
This tour came about after I met lead guitarist Tad Kubler last summer and we began emailing each other. I had just been turned on to their music by their producer and our good friend John Agnello (he mixed TDS and Blessing / Curse for us). If by chance you haven't listened to them, they are absolutely fantastic. A great band with great songs and an excellent stage show. To say we're psyched would be an understatement.
Just so everyone knows the whole thing has been put together without any business bullshit or ego crap. Both bands are co-headlining every night. Who plays last depends on who is the bigger band in each market, and as both bands are at almost same level all over it was really smooth. Both bands will play long sets and hopefully there will be a grand finale to cap off the evening with something extra truly special.
I think the Hold Steady is headlining the Chicago date (dunno how they figured that one, they each played the Metro the last time they through town) and DBT are headlining the Nashville date.
Thanks PBM, I'm really looking forward to it! The Ryman is one of those legendary venues that I've been wanting to check off the list for a long time.

In Minneapolis the Truckers are closing night 1 and THS are closing night 2. THS are by far the more popular band in the area, so I'm wondering if they might just be rotating every-other night regardless of the market.
These shows are going to be tremendous!

"I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version." - EV

I think Minneapolis might be an exception since THS are from there...are they playing two dates in any other city?

a few. i read that any city with 2 shows will have both bands headline 1 night. with 2 exceptions, it does alternate every night. i'm gonna do philly and pitt so i can catch one of each.
What the hell happened w/ the NYC tickets?! I thought that they were originally supposed to go on sale at noon today. I go on there last night to find that they had gone on sale the 20th at some weird time like 8:43pm. They weren't sold out yet(luckily) but it kinda scared me for a few minutes.

Same with the Toronto show. I thought tix went onsale yesterday at 10am, but when I checked before that time they were already onsale, and it then said the onsale time was Thursday at 1:14.

the hold steady are amazing and will destroy the drive-by truckers. it's appropriate that the latter is opening.
though i was exaggerating. i dig the DBT but i LOVE the hold steady and they got a HUGE reception last time they were in chicago, so it makes sense they'd headline here.
This will be a great tour, I love the fact that the DBT are playing the Wiltern. One of my favorite venues in LA. I'm going to be hard pressed to make it up there though... THS and the DBT are both big in San Diego, hopefully they'll add a few more dates.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.
