Queen- I don't begrudge them making money and touring with Paul Rogers. But Queen, it certainly is not. There was one Freddy. Ever.

    Also...

    INXS
    The Clash
    Nirvana
    Buddy Holly

Dżem (translated: Jam) - the best polish blues band. The singer (Rysiek Riedel) overdosed drugs.

Blind Melon (Shannon Hoon)-"Soup" was so poorly received commerically & critically when it came out I just hope Shannon knows how highly revered that album is now

INXS (Michael Hutchence)-just oozed charisma and was a lost soul not meant for this world who graced us with his presence for a special time

Layne....by a long shot. Although I did catch AIC at the Tabernacle in Atlanta 10/10/06...still a great band with William DuVall at the helm (from the ATL).
    Check him out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkJCSBCiPCQ

Also miss Shannon Hoon...my gf's favorite.

leaving space ... as it's not even close with any other band ...

someone should mention The Beatles - John Lennon ... but, I can't say I miss them NEARLY as much as The Clash.

I still can't believe Joe Strummer is gone. The Clash's music gets better every time I listen to it.

I also miss Ben Orr from the Cars; his voice made me melt.....

It's a shame when my son asks what happened to all my favorite bands and I tell them either the singer or a key member is dead (many due to drugs/alcohol)

    Morrison
    Cobain
    Staley
    Hendrix
    Hoon
    Bonham
    Nowell

    damn shame
