I've seen them live two months ago, in the UK. They presented a new song called "beware the water" and it was really beautiful. Chino is really good and the songs in which he plays the guitar are in fact better than the ones in which only Steph plays it.

  • First time I saw them play back in 1998 was the best gig i've ever been to, it was so heavy and beautiful it completely redefined heavy music for me.
    "I am a doughnut." (live - Berlin, Germany - 11/03/96)

"Behave like rock stars - not like the President." (live - Noblesville, IN - 8/17/98)

"Yeah, I was gonna learn to play it (Breath) but somebody slipped me a bottle of viagra and was busy doing something else six times last night" (live - New York, NY - 9/10/98)

  • I really cannot stop listening to 'Rapture'. W00t.

  • I like a couple songs by the Deftones. I saw them at the Werchter Festival this year and it was by far the worst show I have ever seen. It was even worse then Papa Roach who I saw at another festival a couple years ago.

Maybe it's becuase they are more of a club band but I am mainly judging by how bad his voice was and how many computerized vocals and fill ins they use while on stage. Half the time I dont even think he was singing.

really? the whole album? Care to elaborate?

  • I was a little let down with The Deftones self titled album but, Hole In The Earth is great and I'm really looking forward to the album as a whole. BUT, I heard Rapture today and think musically it's good but, Chino is very lazy in the song, typical talky screamy. He is so much better than that.

No, he sucks live unfortunatley. I've seen watched a very select few performances from Deftones where they were good but, most of the time, they are one of the most inconsistent live bands out there.

  • Alright, I've got two questions.

    Has the album leaked yet?

    And

Is this their last album? There was speculation that it would be, but I'm not too sure if it is... but if it is, I need to see them on this upcoming tour!
If I could, think I would give in.
  • q 1: nope

q 2: no, they signed a contract to make 5 more albums AFTER White Pony.

since WP they've made 'Selftitled', 'B-sides and Rarities' and 'Saturday Night Wrist'.
so they will make two more albums after SNW.

  • Am I the only one who really loved self-titled? Oh well. Hexagram 2 is amazing, IMO.

No, just hole in the earth. couldnt think of the tittle. Like some others i too am an old school fan. Adrenaline and Around the fur are two good albums(not great). White Pony was at best ok and their self tittled flat out blew. Doesnt sound like their latest is any better.

He was talking about Rapture...and I agree 100%. Hole In The Earth is killer but, Rapture is a sorry excuse for a song.

No, he wasn't. Scroll up a few posts. He later said he didn't like rapture either. Sorry, I just hate when people try to sound like smart arses when they're wrong :)

  • i love the deftones! around the fur is such a sweet record, and white pony is my favorite out of them so far. i wasn't let down at all by the self titled... deftones are the first "heavy" band i ever loved so i may be a bit biased.. but i can't wait til this new one is released. i haven't heard anything from it yet, because i prefer to wait til it's released, but i'm sorry that some people have lost their connection with them. for me it's still strong, and i am stoked as shit for oct. 31.
  • Ive been a fan of these guys for a while...i quite like hole in the earth, i like thier melodic stuff..i actually really enjoyed their self titled album a lot.

Pink Cellphone? Are you kidding? I deleted it from my tracklisting it was so bad; the only song on the album that is bad, imo.

  • Pink Cellphone is a really strange track. It's almost like they ran out of songs so decided to out their intro tape on there or something!

I think the new record is excellent, listened to it through about 3 times now and loving it more and more.

They are back on form after the dissapointment of their eponymous album.

The Deftones have more computer altered vocals than a Chemical Brothers CD.
