Chinese Democracy isn't even one of the ten best songs on this album.

Hard to believe it took him 13 years to come up with something this average. It's not a terrible song, but it's not great either. The excessive production is ridiculous. It really makes you miss the raw distortion of Izzy and Slash. Somebody needs to throw a crap load of money at the original members and get them to reunite. Now that would be something.
"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

That intro in the beginning was stupid too

I thought that was the best part.
I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

  • I thought the woman's vocals with the "Music on Demand" part was way lame-o
    the Minions
  • it's not that bad. i guess i just wish it had a hook or something to make me want to keep listening. i'll buy the record when it comes back just because it's fucking "chinese democracy." it's like discovering that something you always believed was mythical is actually real. like i'm buying tickets to see the loch ness monster or some shit. ah well. here's to hope that the rest of the songs on the album are better.

I'm not sure if you've heard the other leaks or not, but there are definitely better songs on the album. Plus one song that has not been leaked yet called This I Love, which Axl wrote back in '93 or '94. He has been quoted saying that it is the heaviest thing he has ever written...heavy as in Estranged heavy, not doom metal heavy...so we have that to look forward to.

  • It was ok but I never cared for GnRs in the first place. Reminded me of Velvet Revolver.

sounds sharper than the leaks, but certainly not one of the best songs from the album imo. 'better' would've been the obvious choice.

Better is definitely the way I would have gone, but I think from a marketing standpoint - having a song titled Chinese Democracy out there a good month before this album drops is pretty fucking smart

The song itself is pretty strong too - The intro just grabs you

There is a song called This I Love that he's been working on since the old days, that supposedly is supposed to beat the crap out of November Rain....

I like Locomotive the best of those songs because it doesn't contain any of the dumb production things all the rest of his "epic" songs contain.

Madagascar kinda reminds me of those kinds of songs, but it's short compared to most of them.

The guitar solo was kinda cool, but what was the fucking point of that song?

And what's with top ten most demanded songs? I can understand the new AC/DC and Metallica songs being up there, but why is Pressure by Billy Joel #4? And then there's old Journey, Queen and Bon Jovi songs... not that Fat Bottomed Girls isn't a rockin jam... but what year is this?
