but any ways back to PJ.
The companies that manufacture baseball cards now are Topps, Upperdeck, Bowman O-Pee-Chee, Fleer, Score, Studio, Donruss, Pinnacle, Leaf, and Stadium Club.

So, here's what I don't get (though I'll preface this by saying I'm NOT trying to whine about it and it's probably been brought up before). I imagine the majority of the people on here (like me) are interested in these posters because they either went to the show....or they like the artwork....or obviously they love the band, etc. And, they want to actually hang them on their wall or frame 'em somehow. How many PJ fans really buy these things for the collectability or the investment aspect?
I guess what I don't really understand is that it seems like there are a zillion people online here trying in some mad rush to get these posters each night......why doesn't Ames just MAKE a zillion of these things? I'm no Econ major, but it doesn't seem like Ames really "gets" anything by putting these out in such limited quantities and having them grow in value on the open market...do they?
Seems like if they made an unlimited amount of pressings and copies that they'd A) make a heck of a lot more money in direct poster sales, make the fans much happier/saner, and C) keep the posters out of the hands of the unscrupulous sort that just want to turn 'em around on eBay and make a buck.
I don't know....doesn't that make sense? Again, not trying to whine - just seems like it'd be a good thing for all involved...95: San Francisco, San Jose

It all comes down to credibilty for Ames....if they open the floodgates and print a zillion, there will be no snob factor attached, so people wouldn't pay as much for them, nor will they want to buy them in the future.
The more product out there, the less exclusive it is, and the brand name is cheapened......similar to clothing companies that all of the sudden drop their prices so that everyine can afford them...the brands become trite and available at Walmart!0 -
BarkingDogs wrote:And who wants to spend a hundred bucks getting a mass produced piece crap framed.
So if a good poster gets massed produced the art quality suddenly turns to crap?0 -
Maybe you guys are taking my "zillion" comment too literally. I'm not saying they should be mass-produced on Xmas wrapping paper or something.
I understand what you're saying, Joe. It just seems that if demand is FAR outpacing the supply, it would be in their best interests to print a good deal more, especially since it seems like they don't directly benefit from the inflated costs on eBay and such.
I mean, I don't know about you guys, but whether there's 20 or 20,000 copies of the Hartford poster available doesn't change the fact that I personally would like to buy the Hartford poster if I go to that show. I don't think the brand name's cheapened in the least. They're only charging $25 anyways....which is a fair price for us and I'm sure a fair profit for them. Using the clothing company analogy, then it should be AMES that's selling the posters for $100, not the smarmy cats on eBay...95: San Francisco, San Jose

Like the other cat stated, "topps bowman opeechee and stadium club are all topps..."
I would like to point out that upper deck is issuing several of the remainding brands and beyond that the rest are no longer.

I agree, you will never pay the $25 again. If you ever see it below that, it means Pearl Jam fell off the earth.0 -
