OK, first of all, if you've grown in a different direction than Pearl Jam recently, that's OK.. you don't have to write them off. They may make something else that tickles your fancy in the future. As an aside, I want you to ask yourself, what would you and others say if Pearl Jam made the same style of music since Ten, or Vs., when you said you came into the game? We'd say "I liked their first album, but everything else sounded just the same". Pearl Jam is doing just what a band strives to do; come up with new and different material. Also, as people age, they change, whether they are members of a band or not. If I acted today the way I acted when I was 27 and PJ first came into my life (I'm 42), it would be ridiculous. Thoughts change, actions change, people change. To say goodbye to Pearl Jam makes no sense to me. They are part of your music history and as such will always be a part of your life. I STILL listen to all the music I've listened to since I was like 3 years old. I'll never give up those parts of my life for anyone. If I had a BeeGees sticker on the back of my car today, I'd wear it proudly. Sadly I didn't have a car back then.

    Peace

yeah this is a strange post.

to those that said it, i agree that ten-yield (of course merkin and mirrorball) are their more powerful albums...although i enjoy it all.

but i still can't relate to your sudden abandonment.

    good luck man.

This is all a little strange considering PJ is a better band than ever. Whatever though, its all your choice and i hope you enjoy whatever youre listening to now.
But lol at the part where you say their music was "all I've ever known". I mean, of course you would end up like that if its all you were listening to. you should have diversified your tastes from a lot earlier on and you might still be appreciating them lol.

I didn't think this day would ever come. After 16 years of being a fan, I just can't hold the same interest as I once did. For years I would look forward to the next great album and they never disappointed me! Then a slow decline of interest began to build around 2000 and took up until this year for me to realize that I just can't put in any of my favorite CD's from them anymore:( I still love them as a group and I always will but in terms of the music... the sound... it just doesn't strike me as it once did. Eddie turns more into Bob Dylan by the day and the music doesn't have that punch to the face that I had always loved. Now please don't take this the wrong way, you fans are the greatest part of what this band looks forward to on every tour. I just wanted to give a graceful farewell and to wish all my friends on here the best. I'm almost 26 and I have been into them since the day "vs." came out on cassette and was self-titled, haha. Removing my PJ sticker from my back window of my car was not easy. There music is all I know and now as my music tastes have changed PJ tends to get pushed back each and every year. I always figured I'd be in my forty's before I even considered not playing one of there many great albums but it crept up a little quicker than I thought. Goodbye everybody...

To be quite honest, I lost interest after the Riot Act tour til I started hearing WWS on the radio again. I was like, "Holyshit, is that PJ...they're back they're back" so that was almost a three year gap. It was also because I had some things in life to take care of as well.

I love the band more as Eddie becomes more like Bob Dylan/Cat Stevens.

    I'm down for some folk.
