.....its so nice to feel accepted after getting slagged on a bunch of threads over the weekend ;) I HATE being called annoying :(

.....what should we call our club? nobody else can join though - otherwise we would be getting a little to mainstream and we might lose our indie street cred

Was not slagging you off!! Just saying that you often seem to find the need to name check these random bands in loads of your posts. Trust me on this one, it's not the best way to get people to listen to them! I've had people in the past put off Pearl Jam cause I talked about them all the time, yet when they finally heard them they actually enjoyed it. Anyway I had a butchers at your list and it seems you do have some taste, nothing we can't work with;)!!!

Downfall from their last album was an amazing song, very Fleetwood Mac influenced.

Anyone get the new Shins albums? So far I really don't like it..except for a few songs. MMJ is overrated in my opinion. I really dont see what is so great about them.

The new Shins is really good IMO. I don't like the pre-Z stuff I've heard from MMJ, but Z is a great album and they put on a good live show as heard in their live album released last year.

That's because they aren't really and indie band, they are just a fucking amazing rock band....they are the best band on the planet right now, and if the world had any taste, they'd be the most popular band too.

I hate categorizing music by indie or popular..I prefer to categorize it by good or bad. For example..My Morning Jacket are brilliant...the Decemberists suck ass...Nickelback sucks hard...Tool is amazing...the National are outstanding...the Strokes are really good...AFI suck. Quality of music is not defined by record sales. Period.

    somehow im not surprised.
  • its ok to be eclectic in your musical taste, i just dont know how pj fits in with your other favorites there. . .i mean the bon jovi's and journey's of the world
:) I like some fun stuff every once in a while. PJ are my favorites, with the indigo girls second. Although they have not gotten better with age unlike PJ. If you listen to Bon Jovi, it might be formulaic but Jon still writes some decent stuff lyric wise. I even heard an interview where Stone and Mike mentioned how awesome Wanted Dead or Alive is.

Bon Jovi->Aerosmith->PJ It's evolution baby. (for me at least)

The lyrics are tacky, but if PJ released the exact same song with different lyrics everyone here (OK, including myself) would think it was the greatest song ever.
It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win
  • I actually love that song.
I don't want to take what you can give
I would rather starve than eat your bread
I would rather run but I can't walk
Guess I'll lie alone just like before
