“Life is life everywhere. Life is in ourselves and not outside us. There will be men beside me, and the important thing is to be a man among men and to remain a man always, whatever the misfortunes, not to despair and not to fall - that is the aim of life, that is its purpose.”
Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Here's a link to my pictures from last night at the Astoria. I was having to experiment with my camera cause it's new and I didn't know what setting would be best, consequently a lot of them were blurred, so here's some of the best ones (the ones at the bottom of the page are the better ones).
We've just realised that the guy taking pics after the other photographers left was Ross Halfin so you may want to keep an eye on his site to see if he puts any up ... he already has some good Chris ones if you've never looked at his site before http://www.rosshalfin.co.uk ... and the gig gets a mention in his diary.

What's the quality like on the bootleg? Obviously I'm gonna download it but I'm at school so can't listen. :(
From the dimeadozen torrent:
This is not a great recording (About a B- in my opinion). My pre-amp messed up during Spoonman
hence Spoonman is a very heavily altered and cut short flac. I had to use the inbuild pre-amp
in my IRiver which doesn't do a bad job thanks to Rockbox.
You also have permission to remaster if you think you can improve the quality.
I'm not too great on this front yet!
Awesome show! I think it was the longest of his tour so far, and certainly the only time he's done 3 encores . I was at the back in front of the soundboard as wife's pregnant, but stood on a convenient step, so had an amazing view!! Personal highlights were Hunger Strike, JCP, Sunshower, Loud Love and Slaves & Bulldozers. The other musicians were great as well, and seemed to be having a blast:)

Hope you enjoy the gig from my point of view. Hope this works, lots of firsts for me, first time with this camera, first time videoing gig, first uploads to youtube, first post with links. I've got a few more to load yet.
Hope to meet like minded folk at Pearl Jam next month

A bunch of next to unknown musicians, suddenly touring with Chris Cornell playing some of the best songs written, too fucking right they're having a blast.:)
I was in London for the Astoria show - sorry not to have met up with any of you - especially Claire and Redrock - I was on the guest list so was up in the VIP area where I have to say the sound was fantastic, much better than it usually is on the rail.
I also got the chance to do a face-to-face interview with Chris before the show, so that will be appearing somewhere (or possibly several places in slightly different write-ups) soon - I'll be back to post the link(s). The full version will also be on my site later for everyone to read - we talked for about 40 minutes and he really opened up about the past as well as the present.
Also in the process of putting together a page for the show on the site - check the link from the tour page, it should be up later today. I'd love to add some of the photos from this thread, so I'll pm those concerned and I hope you'll let me use them, with a credit of course.
Wasn't it a great show? I'm still grinning from ear to ear. Oh, and whoever said it was "Just some actor doing keyboards on the James Bond tune" - that wasn't an actor, it was David Arnold who scored "Casino Royale" and co-wrote the theme with Chris.
Hi guys
Wasn't it a great show? I'm still grinning from ear to ear. Oh, and whoever said it was "Just some actor doing keyboards on the James Bond tune" - that wasn't an actor, it was David Arnold who scored "Casino Royale" and co-wrote the theme with Chris.
lol, that was me. When he came out on stage, I missed the name, so turned to my friend and said "who's that?", to which he replied "I think he's an actor". "What's he been in then?" I said, "I think he was John Cusack's pal in some film". So yeah, I was misinformed...
Still, it seemed a bit pointless him coming out, since they had the volume on the keyboards turned right down...
If you all stop hitting refresh for just two minutes, I can buy my tickets...
Still, it seemed a bit pointless him coming out, since they had the volume on the keyboards turned right down...
Yeah, I thought that... you could barely hear the keyboard, and he was hidden away at the back of the stage!

Yep, that was a shame. I was lucky enough to get to see the soundcheck, and when they ran though the song with David, his keyboards were totally audible and he sounded great - he put in all the strings and brass from the theme that you hear on the movie soundtrack version. In fact at one point Chris joked that he ought to play through the whole set, lol. But when it came to the show proper, the guys on the desk seemed to have turned him right down so he was semi-audible. Shame, really. The rest of the set he was up in the VIP section and he seemed to be really enjoying it.
Sorry to be so demanding but I love the way you write and i really want to hear your take on the gig...
he was fucking brilliant, imo, best ive heard him sing. and the setlist was wonderful, though as most ppl there wld agree, he could have added loads more stuff, perhaps totd and dotu in particular and no one wld have complained...scar on the sky, what you are, seasons, sunshower and billie jean were my highlights. my bf is now loving bmf and was very pleased about david arnolds appearance!!!
and as for your interview: so thats why i didnt see you in the queue, lol!
