but the first thing that came to mind was Tool's Aenima. it is an absolute work of art, and completely transformed the way i listen to, and play, music.

Musically from when you press play till the final note of the last song the closest I believe is :

    Tragically Hip : Fully Completely.

12 fantasic songs that flow together so well with absolutely no filler material.

Of course the production lets it down somewhat, but if it's about the music only then Fully Completely is my choice.

Use Your Illusion I & II? They would have made one great double album but there's too much filler on them for them to be perfect. I own them both and they are great but that's just my thought.

    I'll add:

    "Either/Or" by Elliott Smith
""Sunrise Over Sea" by John Butler Trio

    to the mix
    “Do not postpone happiness”
    (Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)

“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
    (Tim Rogers)

I know its been mentioned but my vote has to go to Ten. I always thought Master/ Slave made Ten a "complete" album by taking it full circle. It's almost like there is no beginning and no end.

I take "perfect album" to mean any album where I would not skip a track and album that does not decrease in value over repeated listens across the years. With that in mind, here are mine:

Southern Harmony and Musical Companion - The Black Crowes
    The Band - self-titled
    Foxtrot - Genesis
Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy - Elton John
    Vs. - PJ
OK Computer - even Fitter Happier, it fits in nicely with the overall vision of the album
    The Bends - Radiohead
Tonight's the Night - Neil Young
    Who's Next - The Who
    Hot Rats - Frank Zappa
Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd

Albums that almost make the cut, but miss it by one song:

    Ten - Jeremy
Madman Across the Water - All the Nasties
Led Zeppelin I - You Shook Me
Led Zeppelin II - Moby Dick
Led Zeppelin III - Hats Off (To Roy Harper)
Led Zeppelin IV - Stairway to Heaven
    Houses of the Holy - D'yer M'ker
Dark Side of the Moon - Great Gig in the Sky
    Harvest - There's a World

I'm sure that there are more, I just can't think of any right now...

are you smokin crack? jeremy? you shook me? moby dick? STAIRWAY?!!? dy'er m'ker? great gig? that is crazy talk!

Certainly the Great Gig in the Sky isn't the only thing wrong with DSOTM.

It's just an intensely dull album for the most part. Time is the only song on it that justifies the acclaim. I'm no big fan of Pink Floyd but they have at least 5 albums that are better than DSOTM.

There's no terrible songs on it whatsoever, it's just bland. I couldn't give a shit about its status as a sacred cow, it does nothing for me.

The only one i can think of that i can hand on heart say i wouldn't change a thing is Miles Davis - Kind of Blue. I have quite a high standard when it comes to music but this is the only album i deem to be 'Perfect' and i don't really believe in such a thing.

Not one wasted not on the whole record.

Coltrane's first solo on the album, on So What, is absolutely stunning.

I still find it amazing that that came out in 89... and fucking Downward Spiral was 94... the man is insane. Downward Spiral sounds like it just came out recently (as in the overall quality of the album sounds that way).
